All time most hated BP.net cliches...
First of all, this website is not BP.net, its Ball-Pythons.net, so, as a technical person this bothers me and is also misleading.
Anyhow, I thought I would ask you fellow Ball-Python.net people what your most hated cliche is on this website.
If you have a better example of a hated cliche, please post it.

Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
"I'm so tired of reading the same questions!!!"
.. and nit picking over a term.. and posting "I got the most cool thing ever!!" without pictures.
-
Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
"Is this a morph???"
Which stems into my biggest peeve on Kingsnake
"There's definitely something going on in there!" Oh yeah, then why are you selling it? There's an ad in particular on there right now that makes me scream every time I see it, but I won't name specifics because I don't want to hurt or offend anyone that may be connected with them.
-
Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
Mine would be which morph do you guys think I should get with x amount of money. I say buy what you like. Alright your probably asking ok how do I decide? Pick the mutation you wouldn't mind losing all the money you put into it to buy.
-
Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
I like pretty much everything here, except bombast.
-
Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
I don't really have a problem/hate any of the 'cliches.' I feel that is the point of this site, BP.net :), is to serve as a resource to the public where individuals can share/discuss experiences and opinions.
And honestly...I don't see anything wrong with typing 'BP.net', you know what it means. I guess I am too lazy to type out the whole address. Just my oppinion tho.

I have to agree with that, especially as a relative newbie who's probably asked a few of these "annoying" questions... I can understand getting tired of reading the same questions after a while, but that really is what this site is about! Personally I've found this place to be a WEALTH of information, and that is only due to the helpful people on here. :gj: I'll try to avoid the major cliches in the future though, LOL.
Oh, but it is nice when people do a search before asking something, to see if it's been discussed already. I've done that with some of my generic questions, and usually find the answer without having to start a new thread. But some things have to be asked, and I would hope nobody gets attacked for doing so.

Me too, and as Fallguy just pointed out, that IS what the logo on top says... ;)

Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
No question should be annoying or 'cliche' on a specifically informative website. This website is meant for questions and newcomers to ask them.
There are, however, questions that don't fit to a certain situation. "My python won't eat" is always due to a specific situation. "How much does this cost" could easily be searched on the site.
No question is wrong, some are just lazy and understandable annoyance does come out of that. HOWEVER, I'm getting rather sick of phrases that are like:
"People on this website will yell at you for" or
"On this site people will tell you that your wrong in doing.."
Everyone has a reason for the advise they are giving. Your wasting space by typing something like this, when it would be much more useful just to come out and say what YOUR advise really is on the situation.
Also, the "Is my snake a morph?" was left out. ;)

I'm not angry at all. It's funny how when someone shows dissent or posts an alternative opinion they are automatically labeled as "angry"...
...not to mention the fact that people are voting on the poll.

Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
I get annoyed when people complain for no real reason.
-
Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
hahaha,nice thread!
my most hated cliche is "its a normal but he sure is a looker"
i used to get irritated about repetitive questions/cliches but you dont have to read them if you dont want.there is usually a hint in the title so the decision is on you.
there are members on here that will answer the same question 200 times in one day and they will continue to do so,power to them!
-
Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
what about the "so I just soaked my retic IN mite preventer and he died in my arms" ....."..no seriously, he came back to life"
None of these on the poll options really seem that bad of questions. Yes repitition gets annoying, especially when it's on the first page already, but where here to help as well as learn, and we cant do that if all we will do is sit and shoot the breeze. Consider it a good thing that we are getting such a flow of new users, so that we have an opportunity to help them ensure the well-being and happiness of their animals!
That being said.. the "is this a morph"...I just kind of ignore those.

Don't know if your taking a jab at the OP or if that's your peeve. I would clear that up before someone takes it the wrong way. :D

Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
unless you are a skilled photographer, photos usually don't do a snake any justice. And some snakes you can only really truly appreciate in person, such as the sable! I really see no harm in stating it. I voted My bp wont eat, but ONLY because usually the snake is not eating because of improper husbandry, and there's nothing that bothers me more than when a person gets a snake, but does not research/ care to research its needs and actually replicate them. Sometimes, it's also that they JUST got the snake and expect it to eat that very moment simply because they know no better, or other times it's "I am petting him and cuddling him constantly and I can't figure out why he won't eat" :8:

can i say that a certain user drives me crazy by asking ALL these questions?

Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
People trying to jump in the hobby for a quick buck and coming here to see how to. Knowledge is free here and knowledge is power, but man do I get mad when I see "How much money can I make off of this clutch of brown pastel to dark normal, and can I breed her before 1500 grams? Can I powerfeed to get her up to weight? She won't powerfeed, how do I force feed?"
Dishonorable intentions for a Royal Python=my biggest pet peeve.

To be honest, I don't really see this as much as people talk about it. Usually when someone asks about making money in the BP industry they get jumped on for trying to make a buck and not caring about the animals, when in fact, they were accused wrongly and were just asking a curious question. I think I've seen this seriously only ONCE in the year I've been on this website.
I still think this is a question based website, meant for learning. Just because we see the same question 10 times, doesn't mean the poster sees the answer at a ll.

Coming from a new member, I totally agree.
I personally have posted the "my ball python isn't eating" thread and have read reasons (other posts) prior to posting the thread. so alot of the suggestions that I got.. I already knew. However it never hurts to put it FRESH in front of the group in case someone else has an idea that hasn't been posted... and in case your situation is different due to you already trying the posted suggestions..
my $0.02 :D
so with that said.. my least favorite cliche isnt in the list...
"this is a friendly welcoming site to learn about husbandry/etc...."
and someone complaining about people trying to learn :D

Do we need to do this publically? If you don't care for a certain member here I'm sure you can find a way to discuss this if you wish between yourselves privately. I wouldn't suggest you turn this thread into a member bashing member thread.

Don't forget that you can set members to "ignore" and you won't have to worry about seeing their posts anymore.

Re: All time most hated BP.net cliches...
Well I don't at all mind the "My bp won't eat." especially since my girl won't eat right now and her husbandry is perfectly fine. So I can sympathize with that...
And I can understand not all of us are the best with cameras and lighting and blah blah... So I can understand how someone's crappy pics don't do their snake justice...
But I do get bothered by "how much does XXX snake cost??" If you type in ball pythons into google, you'd get a TON of hits with morphs and prices and if you just do a little bit of research, you'll find what you're looking for.

This is BPnet. It has been BPnet long before you got here and it will still be BPnet after you leave.
I hate it when people complain or "just bring something up" not to be rude but if you dont like something does not mean anyone else wants to hear your complaints especially starting several of the same thread

Both. It can not be taken the wrong way it is meant the way it is posted (normally)
Which I guess I could have just passed this over like I do some of the others, I am just tired of people not liking something about the website so they are going to make a thread to complain.
If you don't like something I am sorry, none of the rest of us really care if your sad. :tears::rage:
The real kicker to all of this is the people that own, not just run, this site do not delete these pointless threads. I can assure you if some one has a problem with me in my home I have little problem with showing them where the door is at.

As a member here, I have the right to say either positive or negative things I feel like expressing. When people like you try to censor people, that's when the real problems begin. I don't know how they do things in Texas, but in the rest of America the ability to express thoughts, regardless of what they are, is still something to hold sacred.
Basically, if you don't like my post, don't comment, or do comment, it's up to you, but don't try and take that right from me.

To bring some levity to this lovely little thread, I am wondering if those guys, you know, on that site, the boys club one, sort of in a league of their own, not doubt one of many were one to actually look into these things, if you know what i mean, feel the same way.
I'm thinking not, which given the outspoken nature of some, is ROTFLMAO funny.

That was me.
And it was true.
It was not toxic spray.
And it was a burm.
You're the annoying one.
And it had something wrong with it because it did that throughout its life with or without any stupid mite thing.
Something out of the norm happens and all of a sudden it's a joke.
Very helpful site indeed.
Anyway, things I hate is when people jump onto a thread pertaining to a new person who made an innocent mistake.

You might want to direct your displeasure at the people that upset you specifically. To blame an entire site because of one thread where a few members may have disagreed with you or made you feel bad is just a bit much don't you think.
Look folks have your opinions about this site, that's your right, however, can you please keep it on a general comments level. Making fun of specific members or their posts is a juvenile, petty thing to do.
