Any Ideas?
A few days ago I acquired a Corn Island male, and he has a lump in his tail, after the vent.
I have been told that it could be a fatty deposit? Or maybe even a cyst of some type?
Does anyone have experience with this?
It is extremely hard and it does not protrude at all.

Re: Any Ideas?
Idk about it being a fatty deposit.
I would wait a week, and see what it does. If it stays the same or gets large, a vet appointment might be best. Just my 2 cents though, I don't really have any experience on something like this.
EDIT: after a second look, it could be some sort of infection..maybe.
Hope this helps.

Any other thoughts?
Man...I should have titled this "Is this a morph?"

Re: Any Ideas?
Id say some form of calcium deposit on the bone.
Or, a healed broken bone of some sort
Or a bit of cartilage....
Some infections will also "form" themselves into hard deposits wont they?
Cyst?

I keep checking back to see if anyone has a good idea what that is....cause I sure don't. Good luck man, hopefully you will figure it out.

Re: Any Ideas?
Looks like a tail bump to me.
Let us know when you find out.
I don't think it'll bother the snake.
No help again!!!

Re: Any Ideas?
I had a Ball Python (rescue) come to me similar to yours. It turned out to be a infection. The vet removed the infection and he was placed on antibiotics.
Often in reptiles, infections are a hard mass. I would recommend taking him to the vet, asap. I hope he's okay and it turns out to be nothing serious!

Re: Any Ideas?
Sorry Pat I missed this one, I had a boa rescue that was here for a couple months that also had a bump in his tail like that.
It was an infenction that the vet gave me some antiobotics for and it cleared right up.

Re: Any Ideas?
Yes, I do not remember what they where called, I will look in my charts later tonight and see what I can find. I may have given it all to the person that adopted the boa
I do remember that it felt very hard but she was able to extract some fluid out of it to make it go down.
