    Possible granite or interesting normal?
So this was my first ball python and i got her off CL she is an 03
I've heard about granite balls before but never really looked at them, im starting to think that my fancy normal girl i have might be a granite ball

NOTE: the scar on her back was from the previous owner, he said it was from a heat pad.... I just left it at that

    what do you think?

Hey I almost bought that exact pastel off him!

As far as the female, she does look like she may be a granite.. she has the hold in the neck stripe although its lower down than I've normally seen.

Re: Possible granite or interesting normal?
thee pastel is a monster, never misses a meal and growing up fast!

the guy i bought her from said the burn was from a heating pad.... i wanted to say how the heck do you burn a snakes back like that with a heating pad?!?! but i just left the subject alone because it was taken care and it was a scar, plus i was there to get the snake and now fight with the guy and end up not getting the snake
she does hiss more than any snake ive seen when picked up, and its really loud too
the scar doesnt affect her shedding or anything, i get almost perfectly intact sheds from her

im really really hoping she proves out for me, im starting to think she may have something else hidden in there, the spots on her back are brown and the spots on her sides are a dark deep green, the bottom of the side patches is white kinda like a spider.
the granite pics ive seen dont have that as much as her, i have no idea what would be the cause of it...

Re: Possible granite or interesting normal?
Looks like my granite girl who I also got off of CL a few years ago.

Granites tend to be better when bred with darker morphs. YBs in particular work really well and the granite tends to accentuate the orange colors and the YB belly pattern creeping up the sides.

If that pastel isn't a really bangin', bright snake, I wouldn't use him personally. His head doesn't look very blushed out and he's pretty orange as a baby.

Or you can breed her to a normal, save back a male baby and breed it back to her. See if you can prove her genetic. My female Granite has proved to consistently produce 100% granites in her clutches, so you never know.

Re: Possible granite or interesting normal?
im not too into yellow bellies... they dont really do anything for me

the light i was using made him look orange, hes getting lighter though. i only used those pictures because i liked hoe the general picture turned out except for lighting

i do have a normal male, but hes pretty light in color. I was also thinking about buying a black pastel that was offered to me and maybe pair them next season

arent granites a dom? wouldnt it prove her out with the first clutch?

Re: Possible granite or interesting normal?
i googled the yb granite and they are hot! lol
my girl just has the bottom part of the patches white instead of the flames i saw in the yb granite pic .... and she doesnt quite have a yellow belly belly. It loooks more reduced
I can post pictures probably tomorrow

Re: Possible granite or interesting normal?
it sounds like granites are on the fence of dom and co-dom, read a thread on here about a super granite andthe only one posted looked like normal granites
