Re: Ebony
You would think so, but none have ever been produced beyond the first one.

Re: Ebony
Graziani reptiles said there were two that bred and produced two more...id say the price for that rare of a snake would be somewhere 5000 because Graziani still wants to breed it so it wouldn't come cheap from them.

Re: Ebony
I have heard that the original Ebony that was produced died shortly after, but now Graziani has atleast one that I know of, but from the sounds of it, he has more than one and they bred, so maybe thats a good sign, because I have always loved the Ebony ball.:gj:

When I saw the original Ebony that amir made, it didn't look like it was going to make it. It was several weeks old, but not in good shape as far as weight and energy. Not sure what happened beyond that.

I heard for a fact that that animal did eventually pass, but again not sure how many Graziani has right now, but hopefully he is making headway in the project!

Re: Ebony
So you say this is from just YB to Granite. i thought there are Yb granites floating aroud that do not look like this Ebony Ball.

Re: Ebony
I'm just trying to get this staight because my local Bp breeder/friend has granites for 80 and YB for 115 so you'll spend 195 in that range. He also has female mojaves for 450 and males for 400 so thats 850. Then if you breed the mojaves together you get BEL which will then sell for 2500-3000 dollars but if you breed granite to YB you get a Ebony worth 5000+. I clueless why people spend like 5x the price to create an animal thats only 2500-3000 dollars worth instead of one thats only takes 195 to create a 5000+ morph. Now don't get me wrong I would rather a Bel than ebony anyday because of there colours but for people who are in it for the money (which I hope everyone knows it takes years to be able to make a living out of it) please your chances of selling a 5000+ animal is low.

Re: Ebony
The problem is that you can't just take any yellow belly and breed it to any granite and get an ebony. If that were the case, then yeah, everyone would have them by now. There's something else going on with it.
It's great to hear that Graziani has been able to reproduce them, that's something I wasn't aware of. It was always a little disappointing to see a picture of the ebony knowing that it was apparently a fluke. Hopefully he'll be able to figure out what's going on with it genetically and start working it into some combos.

Re: Ebony
From further reading i found out that the ebony is not a sure thing. It is very rare to produce one with just any YB to granite breeding. Ony three or four have been produced. There is probably a hidden gene in the granite line that produced the ebony. To increase your chances you probably need to get a granite produced by Greg Graziani. This a way it will have the hidden gene. Well as long as it came from this ebony breeding. But I doubt any old granite to yb will produce them. If this wasnt the case there wouldnt be any granit Yb, they would all be ebonies.

Good luck on the granite....
Most are not genetic, and the ones that are, definitely sell for more than $80.:snake:
