    Mini Fridge Incubator
Has anyone ever used one of these 4.3 cubic liter mini fridges as an incubator?
    http://www.target.com/Igloo-Stainles.../dp/B000EPN8ZK
I've got a couple laying around the house since my roommates from college didn't want theirs anymore. If anyone's ever used this kind, I was wondering a few things...

    1. How many clutches can you fit in it at once?

    2. Can you put a window in it somehow without absolutely destroying the fridge?

    3. Can you please post pics of your mini fridge bator? :D

Roosterman2173 has one. Said it holds temps good and works well. Not sure about the window, the door is pretty insulated, may be hard to do. I think he can put 7 clutches in his.

Man just get yourself a bator like Jake sells.

just take the door off and stick some magnets to a piece of plexi. thats what i use as a door (i screwed in hinges but would leave holes) temps are holding great. ive moved the thermometer all around inside and temps are within .6 degree anywhere in the fridge

for the windoer,i would get 2 pieces of plexi,ad a saws-all,cut the hole how big ya want it,the plexi slightly bigger, use a clear silicone,or white,or blue, cause it doesnt matter, put it all around the edge of the plexi, and hold the plexi in place til it dries enough to hold its self, one piece on the inside, one piece of the outside, thus, leaving an airpocket in the middle of them,as insulation,so you have no worries whatsoever or losing temps

    gcanibe,
That's a great looking mini fridge!

The problem with the one I have (like the one in the picture) is that it doesn't look like it will fit many tubs in there--- maybe 2 or 3 at the most!! At the bottom, it jumps out like 8 inches because that's where the motor is at so that takes away from valuable spaces and makes the shape quite awkward.

Still don't know if I should use this FREE mini fridge (that only holds 2 or 3 clutches) or pick up a cooler that'll fit 6 clutches.

I hate making decisions some times!! :frustrate

    Re: Mini Fridge Incubator
If ur Fridge is the one im thinking, u can hold there more than 10 clutches in 6qt tubs or 5.7 L by clutch, but you have to work with it.
The one i have is not to big, 42 x 24 inches., and the one u show in the pic 33 x 19 Inches aprox..

    Re: Mini Fridge Incubator
I think we have different mini fridges in mind. I've got a 4.3 cubic foot fridge which has accommodations to put soda cans and bottles on the door (so that eats up some space once it's closed). And then like I said, on the inside bottom, it jets out because of the motor space. Using 6qt tubs, I can't fit tubs side by side because the fridge just isn't long enough. It's gotta be one 6qt tub per level, which really sucks.

I would LOVE to fit 10 tubs in there, but I just don't think it could happen with the fridge I've got!

that one like my coke firg but the compressor and al lon te botom. Did you recut the bottom and removed he compressor area? I just too apiece of plywood and coverd it up to prevent the boa from tryingot hid in there. I also am gonigo t use the metal racks that came with mine to stack the tubs on when I set it up. I Am planning on 3 clutchs of het ablins and one of het pied so I can group the het ablino eggs together in a bigger tub and savea little room. ( makes note to get a bunch of small tubs by spring lol.) I may even try to breed one or 2 to the albino soon, Just to see if he ready and if so I got the hovabator still readyto go just plug in lol...
