Just got me a Black Eye -)

Took a long train journey to collect this litle guy, Boy was he worth the trip
Completely white, no yellow patches at all

Congrats, he is a beautiful animal. I personally like the Black Eyes with the yellow patches. It's a good thing everyone likes something a little different. Either way, I am a bit envious.

If there were only one type of white snake available, I'd for sure want a pure white BlkEL. However, since I can get a pure white lesserxlesser, I'd probably pick one of the spotted BklELs. That is of course some day way in the future when I can actually afford all of these expensive snakes!

It is interesting to know someone is trying to selectively breed for pure white BlkELs. Does anyone know how much success he is having? I thought I had read previously that the amount of colored patches was random.

I know this is a silly question but Black eye'd luecy's aren't albino right? Even though the pupil is red? Amazing snake BTW! I love how white it is. :)

no they arent albino is a lack of melanin

I like the paradox/splotchy BlackEL more than the clean ones.

So is it a homozygous fire then?

At one time I heard that the black eyed leucistics from Amir's line ("flame hypo" or something like that) didn't have the yellow splotches. I don't know if that has held true. I'm also not sure if crosses have been done with the at least three different lines of black eyed leucistic producers (fire, flame hypo, and sulfur).

Correct Randy, it came from a UK breeder who produced some very clean white BkEL's.
I have a real thing for Fire crosses, and this little guy is going to be busy next season.
