True Blood Fans/Watchers - New Season is almost here!
    Hey,
So the new season premiere of True Blood is going to be aired this Sunday night and I am stoked about it!

Anyways, does anyone have any thoughts as to what might happen on season 2? I think we are going to be learning alot about the characters pasts.

I actually hope they do not introduce werewolves into it. Thats been done soo many times now! I really like how they have shapeshifters though. ( Even tho werewolves can be classified as so, but I like how it is not in that character)

That is very true, and I agree about the shapeshifters. I find the show to be very refreshing, but at the same time I am somewhat of a werewolf buff. So if they do, by chance, introduce werewolves to it, I hope they'll take a unique and interesting approach to it.

The problem isn't that werewolves have been done too many times, the problem is that the majority of them just aren't done that well. :P Should only be a few more months until the best werewolf movie made in a long time comes out. :D

Now if you want to talk about something being done too many times, how about vampires? At least True Blood does have a unique twist to it, seems like I've been waiting forever for season 2 to start up.

I also dont believe hes "dead" lol well he may be dead but not gone yet. I am a werewolf freak I love werewolve movies. I have to admit I was a huge fan of the twilight series until I finished reading all the books and then I was just upset lol. But they opened it up at the end of the first season to have a whole crap load of new monsters when sookie was talking to sam.

I THINK TERRY FROM THE BAR WILL BE A WEREWOLF AND MARY ANN IS MAYBE A TROLL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
ALSO I DONT THINK lafayette IS DEAD AND GONE.

Man im sooo excited now lol!!! I agree that alot of vamp stuff has been done, but this is very different an unique, too cool! So if werewolves somehow do come on, hopefully it is extremely different than wat is the norm. And I do not believe Lafayette will be "gone" :)

I watched the season off Itunes and it was pretty good. I think Lafayette will come back as a vampire since he was such a memorable character....so will Amy (since she was hopped up on V when she was killed ;))

I am interested in what other 'creatures' will pop up in the show too. When Sam 'came out' about being a shapeshifter....he seemed to allude to there being alot more than just vampires and shapeshifters out and about in the world.

Sam definitely said there are werewolves, there most certainly appears to be one in the sneak peek.

This season, especially early on, will probably focus on the issues between sookie and bill due to their new vampire that bill feels responsible to take care of.. With side stories involving Sam's old aquaintance that hasn't been explained.

Well, just from the little ads they've been doing on HBO lately for True Blood it's obvious that Marry Ann will have a big role this season as well as Eric.

Marry Ann is a shape shifter as well, and her and Sam seem to have a past together. But Marry Ann is the more powerful of the two. So that should be pretty interesting.

And I really enjoyed Alexander Skarsgård in Generation Kill so am really hoping that he, as Eric, continues to play more and more of an expanded roll in True Blood. He's perfect for the part of Eric and Eric is a welcomed addition to the show I think.

I'm really hoping Lfayette isn't dead. He was such an awesome character. It would be a damn shame if he was. And the preview for tonight on my cable box reads:

    Quote:

A shocking murder outside Merlotte's rattles the down of Bon Temps.
So I think whoever died is dead.. but perhaps it wasn't Lafayette? Who knows.

I don't see Amy coming back. Especially not since Jason Stackhouse is going to be a part of this "light" religious movement.

I'm definitely excited for the new season! SHOULD BE AWESOME! :)

    *****SPOILERS*****

    YAY! Lafayette isn't dead!!

I still have no clue what Maryann wants with Sam, but it's interesting that she wants Tara and that Eggs guy to hook up. WEIRD. I wonder what she has schemed up there?

As soon as I saw the group in the basement where Lafayette was I knew they were those that had wronged vampires. Eric's brutal killing of the guy at the end was INTENSE. Buddy got ripped to pieces.

HMM. What else? I'm not sure... Can't wait for next week!

Idk if Lafayette not being dead is a good thing considering where he is.

I think Maryann has a completely different agenda that doesn't really evolve Sam, She is definitely gettin more interesting by the minute. She is definitely plotting something that involves Tera, thats for sure.

IT WAS! I was on the edge of my couch when I was watching that scene with Eric. One thing I was baffled about was, what the heck was in his hair???

    I can't wait for next week! :D

Those were foil highlights. He was getting his hair done. When he came down he was wearing the hair dresser smock and took it off. He's a bottle blond!

Well, as long as it's in the Charlaine Harris universe you're going to have werewolves and plenty of other were's as well. I've read all of her Sookie Stackhouse novels and I love them. I wonder if Jason will ever turn into a were panther in the TV series?

It's just weird how the TV show has the same characters but the story lines have been changed to give more depth to certain characters and to even give them a completely different story line altogether. For instance Lafayette is one of the more popular characters in the TV series, whereas in the books we barely got a chance to know him before he was killed off.

3rd Book, Club Dead. Where we first meet Alcide Herveaux. But I think we did meet some werewolves in the 2nd book right at the end when Sookie was escaping from that Anti-Vampire church group.

    **spoilers to follow**
I love vampires and vampire stories, and I've seen all of True Blood (except the 1 or 2 most recent episodes)

And it really sucks. The dialogue is contrived, and the characters are boring at best (Sookie, Sam, Bill), and outright obnoxious at worst (Tara, Maryann, Jason).

Rene was really the only likable character and then he ended up being the bad guy  My husband and I even discussed it ahead of time and said if they killed him off then we would immediately stop watching. Which we haven't done since he keeps hoping it will get better.

The second season has been far worse than the first, with the addition of this maker storyline with the annoying girl vampire, and then this whole thing with maryann. Lafayette was pretty entertaining, but then the vamps broke his spirit. Not such a good move since at that point he was the only redeeming thing to the show. Maybe now that he's doing better he'll be interesting again.

For the record, the fact that I watch the show really doesn't mean I think it's good. I also watch Degrassi TNG and Super Sweet 16.

ETA: But if you were a fan of the book, then I can get why you might think the show's pretty good. I have in the past gotten into movies/shows that were bad just because I liked the thing they originally came from...

Really though I don't get why everyone in the world except me likes the show, and I would be quite happy for people to explain to me why it's good. The novelty of their approach to vampires is not nearly enough to make it good, in my opinion. A good idea, implemented poorly, still makes for a bad product overall.
