What room do you have your BP in?
Hi Everyone! New to the forums, and absolutely LOVING everything I am learning. My boyfriend and I are planning on getting a ball python within the next two months, and I just have a quick question!

We play the online game World of Warcraft. His computer has a pretty nice speaker set on it, and sometimes it can get a little loud. I tell him to turn it down alot, I think his ear drums are damaged =P We also like to listen to music every now and then, and depending on what time (and if the neighbors woke us up with their drum set that morning...) it can be loud or pretty chill.

I was thinking of having the feeding area in our front room where there's hardly any noise and movement so it won't get startled. And the main terrarium in our office, where we are 90% of the time. There won't be alot of movement, other than coming in and sitting down at our desks. So my question is, what do you think?

I'm not too concerned that noise should be a problem, but I'd just like to get some opinions and make sure that we're confident enough when we get our BP.

All six of mine reside in my 9 year old son's bedroom. His room has more space to keep the racks etc. The noise never seems to bother them much, and some days the kids can get pretty loud.

Re: What room do you have your BP in?
I keep my snakes in my room and we listen to loud music and movies all the time. The snakes don't really care all that much. I would keep it down for the first few weeks, but after that it should be fine.

There is really no reason to feed in a separate container. I feed both my girls in their home enclosures and I have never noticed any aggression or anything. If anything, moving them around before and after feeding would cause more stress and make them not eat. :) Just my 2cents.

My collection has the entire basement devoted to them and their feeders. I play my WoW upstairs where I won't keep them awake. :D

Re: What room do you have your BP in?
All my snakes live in the bedroom, with the exception of quarantined snakes which stay in the computer room.

Noise, per say, doesn't really bother snakes...but vibrations do. If you can feel the vibrations of the sound from the speakers in the floor, then so can the snake. :)
My Albino male in QT doesn't seem to mind at all when games or music are played on the computers in here, but if something falls from the closet right in front of his tank stand, then he pokes his head out to investigate. :)

There's barely a room in this house without a snake- the bathrooms and the baby room are the only ones! LOL

She's got her own room. Too many other large animals running around the house to keep her in a common room. The snake room doubles as a wardrobe and spare bedroom. At least, it would if we had people stay over.:P

My bedroom is my snakes home for now. Once I build a house though, I'm making them their own little room to themselves!

Awesome! Thanks for all the replies! I never really thought of putting her in our Bedroom, but it's definitely a possibility! I wish I had a room to devote to snakes, but since we're in an apartment, that won't happen til we get a house. I have a feeling that we're going to start with out just one, like a lot of people, and end up with a few! I sure hope so!

My bedroom, right next to my bed. Haha, they're the last thing I see before I go to bed, and the first thing I see when I wake up! It's pretty nice. Except for when somebody decides they've got to be active and start moving their bedding and knocking their hides or water bowls against the sides. Quarantine animals go in the living room. (My parents don't like it when I have an animal in quarantine, lol!)

I hope to have a dedicated herp room once I move out and get a place of my own.

Re: What room do you have your BP in?
I keep my female BP in my room. My male BP is in quarantine since he's my newest pet so he can't be in the room where I keep most of my collection. I have three of my snakes in my room, and one of my other reptiles. There's not a whole lot of movement in my room, except when friends or neighbors come over and chill out in my room. Besides that things are calm, I also feed all of my snakes in my room. I just make sure none of my dogs or my cat is in the room because they can be a distraction, especially the cat. When I feed my snakes in my room, it's usually just me in the room and no one else. My family doesn't really barge into my room often lol.

All the ball pythons, leopard geckos and pictus geckos are in the snake room, the grandis and beardies are in the "laundry/lizard" room, the BRB and the savanna moniter are on the covered back porch.

I need to set up a new quarintine area for the animals in our new house.

Once i get my snake its going on top of my headboard. The tanks already on there but no snake. I would like to put it in the book shelf area that is right above my head if i was laying in bed, it fits perfcetly but then I couldn't use a heat lamp, and id have to pull the tank out to get the lid off....

Mine is in the bedroom. I've got blackout curtains in there, so there is no bright light to bug him. Also, it is pretty quiet in there. I do move him when I run the vac, though.
