I only cut after the some have pipped and one or more are taking longer than expected. Otherwise I let them do the cutting for me. :)

Anywhere from day 48 to 55. I did accidentally cut a clutch on day 45 last year, and had no issues (that doesn't mean I condone it though). It all depends on how antsy I am. My set cut day is typically 52 though.

I cut around day 40 once (not suggesting this either)...They were all good.

I voted Other: I usually cut when the eggs dimple enough I can pinch the top of the them together.

Sometime I let the first hatchling pip and then I cut the rest or I cut between day 52 and 55.

I think it is best to cut after at least 2 have pipped on their own.

I usually wait until at least one pips. A lot of times though I don't cut at all.

I don't cut until one in the clutch makes a slit.

I cut an egg today, before realizing it was the wrong clutch. It's only day 46 for this clutch. Thank goodness it is only 1 egg.

What is the likelihood that this snake will survive?

There was someone that used to post on here that said they cut all of their clutches very early. I think maybe day 40-ish? If I remember correctly, they said one of their earliest clutches they miscounted and cut early by accident, but when it turned out ok, they just kept doing it.

Also, I'm a lot more vague on this memory, but I think I remember a post of someone that accidentally ripped an egg when taking them away from the mother, because they thought 2 eggs were separate when they weren't, and that egg hatched ok. They may have done something to seal it; I don't remember.

I am not recommending doing that, but based on those things, your egg should be ok. It might be worth posting a thread asking what special care it may need since it was cut so early.

this year was my 1st breeding season and a month ago i was asking the same question. alot of breeders told me not to cut until the 1st head pip... and that is what i did... my 1st clutch pip at Day 55 & my 2nd clutch pip at Day 50. alot of times patience gets the best of us, espically when there could be a nice combo !

I cut my first clutch this year on day 53, and a few of the babies still had a bit of yolk on them. All of them waited in their eggs until it had absorbed, and are doing fine, but still it worried me a bit. I also like to cut them decent-sized sunroofs, so I'm only going to wait to cut until after the first pip from here on out. The first two years I bred I cut slits after the first pip and all turned out fine.

I have really been lucky! Out of my 3 clutches I have ever had I have only had to cut one egg! But if i did have to cut it would be day 54!

today is day 54 and i was ready to cut today, but they started slicing on their own. If they're not all pipped by the time i get home at 5pm EST, i may cut the rest!
