Baby/Juvie Ball Python in A 41 qt tub

I am getting a 2008 normal BP sometime in summer. I hav a 29in x 18x 6 rubbermaid tub that i have prepared for him. I have a 30-40 gal zoo med heat mat on one side, an Alife thermostat, 2 digital thermometers, 1 hygrometer, 2 hides, a waterbowl,aspen bedding, and a bunch of plants and a rock and stuff to help make her more secure.

Now i know what your thinking, DONT PUT A JUVIE IN A 41qt TUB! Well most of the people on this website are breeders so they only think of space. If you have 2 snug hides, a water dish, and alot of plants in the enclosure than it should be fine. They dont live in 15 qt enclosures in their natural environment do they? So please post your thoughts about this topic and i would be happy to discuss them with you. And if theres anything you think i could add to my enclosure let me know.

I don't think you understand when we're thinking of space, we're not thinking of our convenience. We are thinking of the snakes well-being.
If an animal requires a certain size cage, that will be provided, but for ball pythons, bigger is definitely not better.

Actually, yes, a 15q enclosure is the closest thing to their environment we can actually provide. If you do some research on ball pythons, they live in the brush, but they don't live out in the open. They find the warmest, smallest, darkest burrow they can possibly find. They don't want to be in large spaces because they will feel exposed and stressed out. Even with the hides and the plants, I feel a 41q could be potentially problematic for a baby ball.
I think 20 gallon tanks are the largest tank a ball should ever be in, and a 32q is the desirable size enclosure for an adult, unless it is a very large female.

If you put him int he 41q there are much higher chances you'll come back with feeding issues.

I am buying my BP from BHB, so do you reccomend i get a sub adult/adult? They have 2007 and 2008 females.

And i have been doing research on them for about 4 months. So i guess i missed that.

Or should i just get a 15-20 qt tub and a baby BP? Ill probably just do that to save me some time and money.

well I've got some juvies in my cb70 rack and they're doin great! :P

iris cb70 tubs...I believe they're 48 qt tubs but not sure. most ppl keep there huge females in them but I have some 300g balls in them that eat and shed and are thriving just fine in them.

Okay. What i think im going to do is get a baby bp(2008), and a 15-20qt tub. then when she gets bigger im going to upgrade to a 41 qt. and upgrade all heating and that kinda stuff as well. im going to do it all in the summer though because i have school right now and dont have time to set it up. probably 2 weeks or so.

CB70 have a smaller floorspace than a 41q. Those are more recommended for people with arboreal animals that need the higher space.

You can upgrade to a 41q, but I think 32q are more suited for bps. They have a bit more headroom and are the perfect size.
Don't go from a 15q to a 41q. That'll shock them. Usually moving from a 15q to a 32q to a 41q is more suited. :gj:
