Florida Members?

There seem to be a ton of us in Florida! Anyone else in the Tampa Bay area? I'd love to view some more snake collections, talk about our animals, and who knows, maybe we can even work together on projects.

It just seems like there are a ton of snake lovers in Florida :)

Im not a Florida member yet, but me and the wife have plans on moving to Jacksonville. My wife has a job interview in a few weeks and will be staying the weekend Woot!!!!!!!

I used to hate it here but have grown to love it. Now that I am really into the snakes, I love it even more. It's wacky, wild, and wonderful ;)

Congratulations! I'm in Jacksonville too. Well, a little ways south of it, but close enough, haha. If you want we could meet up sometime so you could have friends in the area!

I'm between gainesville and jacksonville. The Jax Herp Society has meetings once a month in jax. I haven't made it to one yet, but I hear they're pretty cool!

I live in Brooksville (aka middle of nowhere, aka horse country) I moved here when I was 13 and before that I lived in Tampa.

Just an off topic observation, I think a majority of the members here are from either Fl., Cal., and GA.

I suggest you look into the Mandarin Area or Julington Creek. Ponte Vedra is the "posh" part. Stay away from downtown (although they got brand new condos out there) and anywhere close to Moncrief. I wouldn't want to be in Springfield either even if they are "revamping" (great cultural place though - lots of really really really old houses). San Marco is a better "cultural" place but it is also pricey.

The westside is okay around Oakleaf Plantation and surrounding neighborhoods but unless you're working in downtown or NAS Jax, it is a far drive with traffic galore. South of that is Fleming Island which is a cool place - but also far.

Southside is okay and the beaches are cool too - especially San Pablo area.

All in all, I find Mandarin the best place in town - easy access to everything - Southside workplaces, Downtown, even Clay County and St. John's county is not far. It's a zip to go to the airport and a quick hop to I-95 to go visit people in Orlando and Tampa. And the beach is close by. And the house prices are reasonable.

I might be biased though, so take it as a personal preference and not a professional one. :D

Dr. Rossi is the greatest reptile vet in town.
Blazing Reptiles is a cool reptile store.
Mike Cavanagh is the ASF guru.

I think that's all you need for your pets. :D

Oh, I forgot the point of the post - I'm from Jacksonville as well!

Jyson,i was dating a girl in springhill/b-ville,and i LOVED it out there,i miss going out there more then i miss her to be honest,,,same with datona beach,,i meet crappy girls in awesome cities:)Orlando is just way to crowded for my likings

B-ville is beautiful. I have a snake loving (but not currently owning) friend in Ridge Manor. I love those hills.

i LOVED my ex's neighborhood,right off of sr 50 kind of,down by seven hills area,nice chunky size property,nice size mobile homes,,and quiet,,and country,,,great area to have cookouts and ball python hatching celebration parties,,and plntly of room for tents so no drinking and driving,,,,

the westside is not exactly the bestside..... My favorite is the san pablo / hodges / kernan areas.

Yeah my pal lives right off 50... and our dog show grounds are right there off Lockhart Road... love that area!

well she was actually,dead off county line,but yeah same area,,,man,,ya'll making me wanna text her to ask to use her yard for a party,lol

I'm actually not too impressed with Blazin' Reptiles. I mean sure, the store is awesome but some of the employees are rude, if you get to talking with them.

Wow, though, there are just tons of us in Jacksonville! I was expecting most people to be from Miami or something, haha. I might be a taaad bit biased, but I prefer living in Middleburg or Orange Park. You have a little room to spread out. We only live on 1.6 acres, but there are lots of really nice places around here for a decent price. Granted, you're in for a 45 minute to an hour drive from Jacksonville proper, but...I like it. It's quiet out here.

ADD: Oh, and! I like it because we have a reptile specialty store like 5 minutes drive from my house. I like them far better than Blazin'--but then, I'm also on a first name basis with the owners, haha. Again, I'm a bit biased.

I lived in Weston for almost 10 years. In Ft. Lauderdale now (near the beach).

I'm in the Orlando area. I love Florida . .. . been here since middle school. I graduated from Eau Gallie High in Melbourne (well, really Eau Gallie when I lived there), lived in Tallahassee during college, moved to Lakeland, then to Sarasota and now to Orlando. I would probably have a hard time surviving the winters outside of Florida.

Im currently in the Daytona Beach area, but have also lived in Destin and Orlando.

i grew up in brevard county....a HUGE town called titusville......you know where the shuttles wake you up at all hours of the morning when they land.

Originally Miami, now Fort Lauderdale. I wish I would've known so many of you were up in Jax, I was bored out of my mind up there when I had to go for the job. I have to say it's a big town with a small town mentality, especially out by the beach - it's dead out there after 9 or 10 PM :rolleye2:

Springhill is very nice most of their rural areas are just like B-ville but there are ALOT of old people there...and sinkholes.
