I kept mine covered until the end. Don't see a reason to lower the humidity at the end... It would only make the eggs harder to slit.

I took the press & seal off the last week to allow more air exchange.

at what day did you remove the press n seal. we are at day 44 and the eggs are deflating and the condensation is building. the patterns are starting to be very vissible while candling. we are so excited for some pippers. thanks everyone.

I cut on Day 52 (and then lightly misted the eggs to keep the yolk moist, because it dries a bit after the cutting). So, I generally removed the Press & Seal sometime after day 45. The condensation building is from the heat that the eggs are now giving off as they are reaching the home stretch.

    Congrats!!!

I did - with "coaching" from Kara, one of my dear friends and mentors. I also had the benefit of having visited with Kevin and Kara about a month before my first clutch was due to hatch and got a hands on lesson from Kevin on his methods and tips.

I chose cutting for two reasons. The first is impatience to see what is in the eggs.

The second was seeing first hand a baby ball python that drowned in the egg when it was unable to slit its egg (also part of my lesson from the Evil Morph God).

Is that a rare occurance? From what I understand, yes. But enough of a chance that I'd rather not leave it to chance.

Day 52 is really the earliest you should consider cutting, may people wait until Day 55 or 56.

When cutting Day 52, it took about 5 days for all the babies to fully come out of their eggs. In the meantime, I misted them daily to keep the yolk moistened and not dried out.

Boy I wish I was dying to see eggs hatch...Im still suffering waiting to start the breeding season. I could always be uber-impatient and fake breeding conditions NOW but my female laid eggs for her previous owner in April and I just barely got her to eat again on Saturday.

    *Edit*
I forgot I was waiting on HER eggs to hatch. Previous owner's incubating em for me right now. I don't have the incubator at home though so I guess it helps not seeing them. Texted her just now, scheduled for July 4th-ish.

I remove the press n seal on day 45 as well. After that I'm doing quick daily air exchanges with the eggs. I cut around day 52 and also lightly mist the eggs once cut (keep a small mister bottle right in the incubator to keep that water nice and warm). Can you tell Rabernet and I both listen to what Kara tells us. :D

Really, it's going to be up to you! I cut on Day 52, because there's no way I can wait until Day 54.

I personally haven't lost any from cutting day 52, but I also don't want to say nothing bad would happen - things happen with ball pythons, no matter how careful you are. If you'd rather wait - there's nothing wrong with that either!
