    FIRST:

You need to outline what you can have.

Size, Temp requirements, Space requirements, Temperment, Food Requirements.

    Colubrids are a HUGE Group

You can get a lot of things, and probably some things you more than likely can't and shouldn't handle.

SPELL IT OUT before asking these types of questions.

People don't know what you are looking for.

People don't know who you are.

You need to be more open before asking these types of questions.

i want a good looking, bright colored colubrid, max tank size would be 10-30 gallon. handleable, and not TOO hard to care for.

At some point you will have to research on your own and decide what you like. Go to the show and handle some animals yourself. You have started like 15 threads like this recently. It really doesn't matter what WE like, it's about what YOU like. You will be feeding, cleaning and caring for your animals. Might as well be for an animal that YOU find appealing.

is there a problem in me asking for other peoples opinions, the reason im asking these questions is because if they list a species that I find appealing then i would be able to research the animal and be prepared before the show, i dont want to buy the snake and come home having to buy everything and look up a caresheet while i have the animal.

Or you could go to the expo, find something you like, NOT buy it. Then research it and get it next time.

Sounds like you want something along the king snake line, just do some research on different species. A perfect snake for my colubrid collectoin was the rufous beaked snake I got. I did about a month of re-search before I decided to get one, then the whole 6 months it took me to locate one I kept re-searching, and come to find out a lot of re-search can and very possible be wrong. People put "their" opinion which is not always in the snakes best interest. Some of the caresheets(not many at all) for the rufous say to keep them at around 86-87° during the day which is completely wrong. I didn't believe it so I talked to a guy I knew that breeded them at one point and he said Day temps around 80-82 and night temps 76-78, reason being is they stay burrowed in the hottest part of the days. So it always pays to do re-search and when you think you've found enough, re-search some more. Longest lived snake is a happy one.

This is some of the best advice I have seen yet! There is wisdom in that quote.

I would suggest you go to a show, find what you like, then go to the next show and buy it (or buy it from a breeder online) after you researching it.....like the other suggestion. Thats what I've done for African House snakes, I knew very little about them before seeing them at a reptile expo...but I didn't want to make a purchase on a whim (which is way too easy to do there ).

There are many beautiful colubrids out there and you have a huge selection... ;)
