    Help I'm panicing!
So my said to look in the lease and she if you are allowed to have a snake (she has a phobia, though I'm not living with her...just my girlfriend). So I look in the lease and it says pets welcome...dogs and cats must have down deposit. BUT it says no reptiles are allowed. CRAP!!! Well it also says in the lease that they leave a notice of the day they do inspections IF they do. But I was talking to someone at this apartment and they said out of the 2 years they lived here they had no inspections. So um...what do I do?:(

Lease says no reptiles, so if they catch you, you're screwed. I guess try to ride it out until the lease is up, hide reptiles if they give you notice about inspections/maintenance, and then find a new place once the lease is up

Thats up to you. If you think you can get away with it, then do it. But realize, if you do keep the snake, and they do catch you, its an automatic break in the lease agreement, and they can, and most likely will evict you.

To me, its not worth it. Find another apartment.

LOL! I got it all planned...if i get a notice I will cover it up with a sheet and put some ordaments on top. When it comes to x-mas break (two weeks) my friend will baby sit it. Perfect!

That doesn't make any sense. If I were you, I would read the actual terms. There's no "domestic" reptiles. If they mean "native" maybe.. but balls aren't native.
If the lease says no reptiles, and you do get caught, you could be liable for quite a bit, have to get rid of the snake. So be careful about it whichever way you end up going.

Best option is to call the office, not mentioning that you already live there, and ask what there pet rules are. Then say "well I have a BP, is that okay?" That way you can find out specifically what the rules are without question, and you won't have them suspecting you, causing them to inspect anyway.

IF you do something like this, be careful what phone you call from, since most places have caller ID now. Of course, they might not bother to notice who the caller is.

Also, this wouldn't really do any good unless you get it in writing. You have to go with what your lease says, OR get them to give you something in writing.

Of course, plenty of people have successfully kept snakes even when it violates their lease, but I can't say I recommend it.
