Re: Name all the pythons you can think of that make good pets. =]
this needs to be moved to the general pythons forum. But I will start by asking what size are you looking for in a snake?
-
Re: Name all the pythons you can think of that make good pets. =]
well, a snake that does not exceed 5, maybe 6 feet. ok no more than 7ft lol.
i did post it to the general pythons but i just wanted to get more answers lol sorry.
what do u think about spotted pythons? any other suggestions?

Refer to other thread
Also watch out for how many threads you post up in different sections asking the same questions. It takes up bandwidth and isn't entirely necessary. Post your question in the right section, and you'll get the right answers.

More posts does not always equal more answers.:colbert:
These will all likely be merged into one post.
I believe that a good pet is always in the eye of the beholder anyway. What works perfectly for one may not work at all for another. Personally I like burms and balls for myself, so I guess I can be of no assistance to you.

well under 5-7ft you could look into bloods they get very heavy bodied but not all that long, maybe 5 ft or so of course there's always an exception to the rule. Now on the smaller side you have your spotteds, and childrens only getting 2-3ft i believe other then that im not too sure. There are tones of snakes but I cannot think of any of the popular pythons. I guess you could go for an irian jaya carpet python they are nice snakes I think they stay in your size range.

Pythons are cool. But so are colubrids, and there are lots more small, inexpensive colubrids IMO - have you considered looking into them?
The other thing, is what defines "good pet"? That's different for everyone... active snake, or snake that hides a lot... handleable, or nice display animal... color preferences... etc. Try to be more specific.

I DO NOT recommend a Blood.
You seem young and this seems to be an effort to find your FIRST snake. A Blood would not make a good first snake.
Look into Corn snakes.

If you really have this much experiance with snakes I find it odd that you ask this kinda question.
Also, cut the other threads.
but to answer your question I think you should look into rainbow boas (not a python I know)

Re: Name all the pythons you can think of that make good pets. =]
i just like learning about new species that's all. the rainbow boas are very nice but i just don't like the high humidity requirements and i just don't like boas overall. ive always been a python guy and always will be. i think it has something to do with the look of the pythons face compared to the boas, do you know what i mean?

I agree on the rainbows head but I think a boa constrictors (and the many morphs) head is pretty awesome.
I personally love carpet pythons as far as pythons go.

Yeah, I actually know exactly what you mean
I think chondros have the coolest python heads.
The coolest boa head would definitely be a Madagascan tree boa, in my book.
Sorry if im getting too off-topic
