    HELP with acurite thermom. Hydrometer
How do I read this thing?? It says IN is 82 when my room temp is 80. Its says OUT is 80 degrees and Humidity at 58%. I just opened it and put a battery in it....btw, what do I look at the out or in?

Ok, the IN temp is the ambient temp around the unit.
The OUT temp is the temp the probe is reading.

If you just started it up, you should wait a while for the unit to get warmed up. If it's still showing odd readings after a day of use, you might have gotten a faulty one.

Well make sure you have everything placed correctly and then let it settle for an hour and then check the temps.

The probe measures the OUT or hotside temp. Place the probe on the hot side right on the glass over the UTH. This will then measure the hottest point your ball python can get to.

Then place the entire accurite unit on the cool side, you can use the little stand to prop it up. The unit measures the cool side and the humidity. The IN temp is the cool side temp.

    :) hope this helps

    Hi,

You need to upload them - either to your gallery or to somewhere like imageshack. :gj:

    Remember to check out this thread on identifying pastels;

I think you could add a few more fake plants and such so the snake has more cover in a big enclosure. You could also try covering the back and sides with dark paper, aquarium background, or foam core board. That can make it look really nice and help your snake feel more secure. Other then that, nice job!

The accurite probe should be inside the enclosure. under the substrate and right on top of the UTH on the glass. That is kind of strange that it isn't heating up. Do you have it hooked to a dimmer or thermostat? Can you double check that the outlet it is plugged into is working correctly?

    Hi,

If you can test the heatpad plugged directly into the wall socket ( not while it is attached to the ank if possible ) If you have already taped it in place then sit and babysit it to make sure it doesn't get hot enough to burn the snake.

If the heatpad works ok it's the thermostat - saves the embarassment of taking the wrong thing back. Done that a few times.

It's funny how much trouble some people have with the UTH's. I have one but it's side-mounted, and it barely heats the ambient temp to high 70's. My boyfriend bottom mounted his and a thermometer read almost 110 on the bottom of the tank, so he quit using it (no thermostat for it). *sigh* Good luck

i think the probe damaged it. Cause it was under the tank on top of the heater (like you all said) and it bent the uth...

    Hi,

I dunno - they are normally pretty flexible.

Was it previously stuck onto the tank or anything?
