    90% sure shes gravid
So as a couple of you may know I have been wondering if my pastel is gravid

or not and well..... About 15 days ago I attempted to palpate and felt 5-6

small marble sized bumps down toward the lower end of her body. Then

about 2-3 days ago palpated once again to try and see if I need to go get

an incubator, and well those small marble sized bumps are now just under the

size of a golf ball. And last night I woke up and looked in her tub and saw

this (seen below). And she continued to stay wrapped around the water

    bowl for several hours.

So is it safe to say I may have some eggs on the way and need to go get an

    incubator ASAP

    Hi,

From what I have heard if you can still feel follicles then she hasn't ovulated yet but is still in the "building" stage.

So you are not yet definate on getting eggs (that's when you see an ovulation - search for pics, they get HUUUUUUUUUGE ) and should keep plugging the male in on the same schedule.

I think it seems as though she is building still, throw a male in with her and see if they do work.

Check her out every day to spot an ovulation. It sounds like she's still building, like the other people said, but if you are breeding and hoping for eggs, you should have an incubator ready. There are a lot of threads here with people who missed the ovulation, find a surprise clutch of eggs, and have to leave them with the mom while they scrounge around to get an incubator set up and dialed in.

Yes I am going to get an incubator ASAP. But I did not intend on her having eggs. I bought her and found out she was gravid

Bonuses are always good. Do you have any idea what the sire might be? Did you get her from a breeder who could tell you what she's been paired with, or was she a w.c. gravid or something?

she was locked up with an albino about two months ago and then locked up with a spider around 25 days ago. But the thing is that she only weighs 1100g so I am hoping that she is mot gravid due to going eggbound. And what do you think the chances of her going eggbound is. And if she does is there a high percentage of it leading to death or just illness?

There is a small chacne of her becoming eggbound, but there is always a chance no matter the size with every gravid female, but females do become gravid at lower weights like her. Usually it just means that she is will lay a smaller clutch. As most have said on here, the smaller the female the smaller the clutch.

If you want her to become gravid throw another male at her, if not just wait and see. :gj:

Well I did some extensive research yesterday about bp's being eggbound.

And well If I can already feel follicles I assume most of the damage is already

done. So I put my male pastel in with her and about two hours later they

were locked. So If she did have eggs..... What am I looking at,

    ??????????????????????????????????????????????????
ALBINO-- pastel het albinos, normals, pastel albinos,
    SPIDER--pastel, spider, bumblebee, normal
    PASTEL--pastels, super pastels, normals
    ??????????????????????????????????????????????????

You won't get any albinos, just hets.

follicles can be resorbed so if you think the damage is done it may possibly be reversed. if the ovulated on the other hand then the eggs are coming either way. if shes receptive and developing follicles and not overweight then the risk of her becoming egg bound is most likely little.

I wouldn't waste breeding opportunities with an albino at this point. Since there have already been two other morphs bred to her, you won't ever be able to say for sure if the babies are het albino or not. I mean...it won't hurt....just no matter what you do, when you describe the babies, you can't call them definite hets. You'd have to say, "Well, the daddy MIGHT have been an albino, but I really don't know." (Call Jerry Springer? )

If it were me, I'd just keep with the male pastel...or a spider if I had one. Whatever you do though, good luck with it.

As you guys know this was a unplanned breed, turned planned. Well on

Monday I am going to pick up an incubator I think will do the trick for just this

one clutch. But like I said unplanned turned planned so I don't have any money

saved up for a bator. So... I am going to get that bator on Monday, but was

just curious if anyone has any suggestions of cheap effective incubators.

haven't had luck finding any except the one I am getting, just want a bit more

of a variety to choose from. Keep in mind, it's just for this one clutch, then

when I decide to start trying to breed I will upgrade.

    Hi,

I would check out the DIY incubators. The only really expensive bit you need is the thermostat - and most people don't trust the ones that come with really cheap production incubators like the hovabator anyway. :)

Then all you need is a heater of some description and an insulated box to keep it in.
