My new pied
Hi everyone, I just figured out how to post pics and I wanted everyone to see my new 08 pied. I think he is soooo beautiful, we named him Patch :)

Re: My new pied
Yes he is tinier than he should be. He was advertised as an 8/08 baby that weighed 200g but when he came in he was 94g. I was very upset about this...but the breeder kept on insisting that he was over 200g and that my scale wasn't professional enough. BUT he is pounding rat pups like no tomorrow and I am sure he will be over 200g soon. I am just glad that he seems very healthy and has eaten for me every time....if not I would've sent him back.

I agree, there is no way that snake is nine months old. My smallest 08 is over 500 grams and my largerst is around 800 grams. Either way, great looking pied.

Re: My new pied
Yea I'll NEVER buy from that breeder again. If he was honest about the weight, I probably would've still bought Patch because I think he is beautiful. I DO NOT like being called a liar, I have a scale which magically works for my other snakes....I guess just for Patch it was wrong :rolleye2: I am not that much of newb that I don't know about snake weights and sizes, I have snakes from 50g hatchlings all the way up to 2000+g monsters lol There were other issues too involving this transaction that made it just a big headache for me. I am just glad that its over with, I have Patch, he's healthy and he eats great :gj:

Re: My new pied
He is a very nice pied!
Perhaps the breeder is the one who has a scale that isn't professional enough?

Re: My new pied
Wow, he is seriously very good looking!

Re: My new pied
He has some great markings...very nice looking, congrats! :D

Re: My new pied
He is beautiful!! I wonder if he was born later than Aug. Probably, it's scary to think he's that size at 9 months. I like the way the white splits his markings. I like the med-low whites better than the high whites. :D

Not Defending the Breeder that sold it to you but
.............
yes but keep in mind if hes not fed like a snake thats intended for breeding then to keep the costs of food down until its sold he was prolly fed a smaller diet which would explain why hes smaller then what is in majoritys collection at that age .

I think the point is that the breeder said it was 200g at the time of sale, but it was actually less than half of that.
Great looking pied though! One of the nicest i've seen.

Re: My new pied
Nice little Pied though I would be very upset with the breeder for telling you it was 200 grams and then saying your scale is off. grrrr

Re: My new pied
Awe he's a handsome little guy:gj:

Re: My new pied
stunning snake... unfortunately, the weight issues are one of the main things we worry about here in the UK when we import from your shores..
Almost always I have found that the snakes are a lot less than displayed..
even corns, i have bought adult corns that have weighed less than 50 grams, thats just a hatchling size at about 6-7 months.
its similar with royals..
on the brightside, you seem to have a good one, that certainly eats.. thats the main thing, and the fact you like him.

Re: My new pied
Thank you all for your responses. Because I was doubting my scale after getting Patch I bought a new scale (My Weigh 7001DX) which arrived today. After comparing my old and the new, I determined that my old scale is only 1g less than the new....so much for my scale not being "professional" enough. The breeder is definitely full of cr*p! I have been feeding him rat pups every 5 days, he eats great, and updated weight today (he pooped 2 days ago) is 150g. It seems like he is growing at a really good rate :D

Re: My new pied
I can understand why you won't be happy with the snake...I can also understand that you may not want to keep that pied...If you'd like I'll take him off your hands for you...I won't even charge you...

awesome pied! cool to see a fellow 'Chussettian

Re: My new pied
Are you willing to share the name of the breeder? I would rather not do business with breeders who can not be trusted. PM if you don't want to do it in a public forum. Clay

Re: My new pied
nice pied I hope to have some next year. I got a set of hetpied to breed I am moving the male here in a couple weeks since he stuck in breeding mode, he only ate once in the last 9 months and when compared to the female he about 600 grams lighter.. so i am moving him once the 3 are out of QT and he get some alone time and feed back up..
it sucks thatthe breeder had to lye like that. I weight gain of about 40 grams is about 2 month at most with my pigs when I had a clutch of normals hatched. And the worst part is the non eater of th group is bigger than the one that came back once adopted out.

Re: My new pied
Absolutely awesome pied. Sucks about the breeder though, but all worked out in the end. Make sure to make a public complaint about him if where you bought it from allows that.
I have wanted a pied since I first saw them many years ago. After a few years of breeding I finally be able to afford some hets and make my own. Needless to say I am way jealous =p

Re: My new pied
