What do you think?

Well I just called a vet and I told him how much does he charges for sexing a ball python and he told me $60 are they ripping me off or what's your opinion?

I do not know how much vets charge for this but I think it is expensive for something that is that easy and only take a few second.

YOur best bet is to try to find people in your area that can sex your snake for you and show you how to do it, and often the best way to do this is to ask on the forum to see if people might be in your area and be willing to to that for you. ;)

If you need it sexed and have no other way of getting it done then thay are not ripping you off.Do you have a reptile speciality store near you? If you do call them they might do it for free.

I've ask my local petshop if they sex ball pythons because they have some but with mites and all that...and they said they did and i told them to demonstrate it to me with one of theirs and they were just pushing the cloaca and they were just hurting the poor ball python so i decided not to have them check it

Well I've seen a lot of videos but i'm still scared that i might hurt it and want someone that is a pro on it to do it.

i got mine done for 6 bucks from the breeder. lol thats alot of money just for gettin her sexed

well i knew the breeders well. and its not that big of a deal lol if i had the kit id do it for free lol

Well i didnt get it from a breeder i got it from Petco but they said they dont sex Bp either...

I took 3 bp's to the vet today to get full checkups. Only one got sexed, took 2 seconds, and she showed me how to probe (although i don't feel comfortable doing it myself). $45 bucks for all 3, and she said she would have sexed the others if i wanted, but since i already knew what they were, i didn't care.

Any new snakes that I get, I have Lucas (who is a member here also) to sex mine, one of these days I'll get around to getting a probe set.

I live in Baltimore, MD. The vet I went to was on our recommended list of vets. They were really nice and the lady definitely knew what she was talking about.
