    any transformers fans here?
I met a local artist who draws for IDW Transformers comics. I had him do a few sketches for me when I see him at cons, but decided to do a full pen and ink cover recreation. First let me say, I love transformers, comics, Star Wars, and tons of other geek type stuff, so I was THRILLED to get this done. Its a recreation of the original Transformers #5 cover from marvel comics. Its always been my favorite cover of the series, and to have it done in a "modern" transformers style, just BLOWS my mind!

    Original cover from 86

    The revamped Shockwave!

Thansk to Robby for hooking me up, it was well worth the wait!

The first comic I ever read was a GI Joe. Very fond memories. I love transformers, although I watched the tv show, had the toys, more than the comics.

That's an awesome piece of artwork, congrats! It's always super to get something unique like that!

He did an awsome job and it's cool that he did the new version of shock wave :gj: Was shock wave the dude that transformed into like 6 different things? One of toys was a pain in the neck for me to transform when I was little because it changed into so many things :rolleye2: It was still cool though :D

I grew up with the TV series as well. I didn't get into the comics. I collected Xmen comics then...

Shockwave is the one with the cannon instead of a hand. I don't think he transforms into anything except a starship. He never got an "earth form".

Maybe you mean Soundwave? He is my favorite bad guy. He was a cassette player (yeah, we are OLD!). He has cassette tapes that come out of the player that forms into their own transformer - like Ravage who becomes a dog, Rumble who becomes a kind of jackhammer or something that causes earthquakes, and Laserbeak who is a spy bird. We used to mimic Soundwave's voice all the time as kids - that robotic monotone that he uses!

I was hoping they would make a modern version of Soundwave. Frenzy is not really a replacement of Soundwave...

Shockwave turned into a big purple gun; A bigger than Megatron gun. He rarely ever transformed.

The one you are thinking of is Sixshot, who was Megatron's son towards the end of the original cartoon run. He came out around the same time as the Headmasters and Targetmasters. TF was starting to get silly at that point which I guess is why the cartoon got canned.
