Loves rats... but not to eat!
Apparently Delilah has an affinity for rats, since this is the second one she's made friends with... LOL. I think rats are just too big for her now (it was an experiment), so I'll trade it for 2 mice tomorrow. Thought you'd enjoy these pictures, though! :D

I think it's the right size too but if she's not interested, she's not interested.

I agree that it's the right size. Maybe a few days as a feeder pet are in order;) Cute pic btw.

Cute, but wouldn't that be like me cuddling with a pizza?

I think the size looks fine. I would say you could get away with a bit bigger even. You can clearly see Delilah is bigger around than the rat. I would try that same rat in a week.

Cute! I had a similar event occur a few months back. I tried giving my 1200 g girl some small live rats to entice her back on food, but instead of eating them she cuddled with them! Both were curled up in her coils and she was napping with her head on top of one of her hides. The baby on top of the pile looked up at me as I opened the tub to take this photo:

She still hadn't eaten them by the next morning, so my 08s got them. They were pretty adorable, especially the spotted one.

I agree though, it looks like that rat is the right size, maybe she just doesn't want it because it doesn't smell like mouse :)

Shes just not interested. I would keep trying. maybe scent the rat with a mouse and try to get her switch from mice to rats. I was lucky with all my snakes they readily take what I offer.

Thanks everyone! And that picture you posted, Vacado - way too cute, LOL. :D Delilah slams the mice like there's no tomorrow, so I'm thinking she simply prefers their scent... I'll probably just trade this one for 2 mice, and maybe try a mouse-scented rat the next time.
