Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
Why isn't it a Caramel ?
Cause it's look like one.
Is it cause it's not compatible ? or it's look different or it's a codom or dominant morph ?
Thank :)

That's a beauty Brock, should make a very very nice project animal.
Now, stop me if I get this wrong, but I believe that the Ultramels are what used to be known as Crider Caramels (After Eric Crider who bred the first one) They turned out to be incompatible and a completely different mutation then the original caramel line and they do look different especially as babies. Also none of that annoying kinking which is a major plus. At least that's what I've heard about them. Anyone want to correct/add to this?
They are an incredible mutation and I'd love to have one myself, the combination's alone are mind boggling but I'm afraid they probably won't drop into my price range for a few more years.

Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
WOW!!! He is really neat!!! Good luck with him! :gj:

Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
Awesome animal, Brock!
Ultramels are a Recessive Mutation from Noah out in Africa.
The majority of them are in the UK with Darren Biggs, NERD's European Distributor!
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
Amazingly beautiful Brock! How do you tell the difference?

Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
Mark you correct. They are not compatible to normal Caramel. I am sorry Ken Chapman but it is not a Caramel.
They are being produced by Noah and yes they are over in Europe. That is where Noah is selling most of his stuff these days. They are really cool and I have big plans for this guy.
I am glad that everyone likes him he is a looker that is for sure!

They've already proven it out to be a different morph. The babies are like PURPLE.
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
IDK about yall, but I can tell that he looks different from caramels. Can you tell more in person Brock?

How? exactly does it look like a caramel?

So how do they look the same?
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
Comparing an ultramel to a caramel is like comparing a regular albino to a lavender albino. Sure, there are some similarities, but they are a completely different mutation and when compared side by side the differences are quite obvious.
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
wow he looks great! Ive never heard of an Ultramel before but he is just amazing
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
So the Ultramel are also what was called "African Caramel Line" by Noah at first.
I assume they most look like Caramel.
It's a bit like the Axanthic, there is a few line, and they are not all compatible but they are still all axanthic.
The "no kink" is what make this good ! I hope not too many person mix it with the original caramel line.
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
I have never heard of this morph before, has anyone actually tried to see if it is compatible with the caramel line? They look quite different and assume they are completely unrelated mutations, but it would be good to know.
I agree with watever that a no-kink caramel-looking animal is just FAN-TAS-TIC!

Yes they have attempted to breed it to caramel which presumably produced double hets.
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
Now that's some nice eye candy fo sho!
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
I am sorry that some of you think that it is a Caramel. It is a baby Burgundy Albino. Adult pictures have been compared to Tracy's at VPI Burgundy Albino and you can see that they are the same thing. After having a baby one here now I can see the resemblance in person.
It has been bred to a Caramel and it didn't produce any Caramels. Yes this is the same thing as Noah line Caramels, Crider Caramels and now they are called Ultramels. I personally like the name and helps clear up any confusion. Some people have been asking me about cost. At the present time if you want one here in the United States you are going to pay 5K for one. I hope that this answers the questions.
Thanks
Brock

Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
I LIKE IT!!!! :gj:
I don't think it truly resembles a Caramel as a baby -- and certainly not as an adult. Different animal that will do different things when combined with other morphs I would suspect. Caramel kinking is scary for most folks. Kinking has kept many away from working with them.
My Caramel Mojave project is line breeding SK, as well as crossing into Nerd line -- het to het. If I told you I did not have kinking in the back of my mind with every lock -- I would be a LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!!!!:colbert:
I am looking to fix that "stresser" down the road by breeding my Upscale Caramel into the Cinny, Yellow Belly, Pastel, and Spider genes this season in order to make codom hets.
Doug Beard (Upscale co-founder) reported 43 line bred visual Caramels were produced by him from Het to Het pairings...ZERO KINKS. :O
Good enough for me.
Plan is to cross the Upscale into the SK and NERD stock as well as line bred.
-
Re: Here is my Ultramel male!
Definatly a must add to our collection Brock. Congrats with him hope he produces many amazing combos.

Brock would know for sure, but it has not been around long enough to cross into anything being that it is a recessive animal? -- Brock? :)
