Buy a 3 yr old Pastel Male for 150? I also found a het albino male and female for 100 each. Yes or no, need advice.

Male pastel is a good price. Male het is high female is cheap. Usually you can pick up het albino pairs for 200 and lone males for 50.

I'd be iffy on the hets, females go for around $250 males for 50-75. I got my pastel male 2+ years ago for $150 so if it is a true pastel at that age I'd say go for it

Hmmm...the lady that has the pastel male also has a female that had a clutch of 8 eggs, both for 160. Should I buy the het albino pair for 200 or the pastel/normal for 160? Also, what kind of clutch can I expect to have with a normal x pastel, or a het albino x pastel?

Normal x Pastel= 50% normal 50% pastel
Het albino x Pastel= 25% normal 25% pastel 25% possible het albino 25% possible het albino pastel

IF the het albinos come with genetic paperwork and guarentee I'd get the pastel and het albino female, if it doesnt come with any guarentee of being het i'd skip them and get the normal/pastel

hets are kinda iffy unless you get them from a reputable breeder. anyone can get some normals worth $25 and sell them for a couple hundred.

pass on the hets, good deal on the pastel though.

These answers are the reason I am so grateful for this site. Thank you all for your help, seriously. Im going to talk to the lady tomorrow and get her pastel. Ill have a collection of a whole 2 snakes, a normal male and a pastel male. Now I just have to wait and find the perfect female. Lol whatever I feel the onset of a lifelong hobby, and I cant wait to build my first rack.

^ I agree ^ Good price for the pastel, I got my male pastel earlier this year for $150, he's 3. Too expensive for the male het, you can get them for $50. Very cheap for the het female, you normally see them for $200-250. And ditto, any hets make sure they have paperwork.

I just want to add to what every one has been saying about hets. They have to come from a reputable breeder. Paperwork from someone that isn't reputable isn't worth much.

Yeah but you could get a proven breeder female for 50 wich is cheap. Most people sell breeders from 100-150. Just a thought. Post pics when you get him and good luck

Getting them all tomorrow. Except the male het. 2 females and 2 males, genetically proven 66% het albino, normal male, beautifully unique proven female and a male pastel. Whoop whoop.

does the het come with paperwork? Also does the normal look odd? b/c if not i'd pass on it b/c the pastel could breed with both girls no problem and produce more desireable babies

that is a really nice female! as long as she has photo paperwork and guarentee i'd go for the female het

Which one is the normal? I think that is a good deal, I don't think either one of those look normal. Look at their blushing!!

If the het albino pair are adults and proven breeders, I'd say it's well worth the price, even for the male. Sure you can get het males for $50.00 but that's often for young unproven males. It could be a good deal, you just need to ask more questions from the seller.

1. How old are they?
2. Are they proven breeders?
3. Has the seller produced albinos with this pair?
4. who was the original breeder that produced this pair and how can I contact them?
5. Do you have a sales slip or ID cards from the original breeder?

Unlike a lot of people, if they don't have any actual paperwork, it's not a deal breaker for me as long as I can get answers to the other questions.

As others have said, $150.00 for a three year old pastel is a good price, as long as he's a proven breeder.

In the picture above the normal is the one on the left, the little one. Theyre both gorgeous and otherwise I wouldnt take her.

Im not going to buy the het pair. Im only buying the female. I dont want to have 3 males and 2 females.

You sure about that? I'd say the pastel is definitely the small one on the left. :)

Yeah Im sure, thats according to the owner. He's a pastel, shes light and gorgeous.

Not sure if there was confusion along the way somewhere but the pastel is definately the one on the left. The normal does have lost of blushing but is definately not a pastel and is located to the right. And having them both sexed by someone who knows there stuff is a very good idea.
