Who says bps don't like to climb...
I have seen a lot of posts that saying that its futile to put climbing branches in a bp enclosure but both of mine love to climb on them... I think :P

My spider wakes up every night and sits on her branch till morning....

Each snake is different. They are not arboreal snakes, and usually do a lot of climbing if they aren't feeling secure in their hides. How big are your hides?

I had to take my ball's limbs out because they where always falling off of it. They loved to climb around, but 9 times out of 10 I would hear THUMP. They never learned. It was not very high but I was sure they would hurt themselves.

This is NOT a smart ass answer, I am a reptile beginner :) How do you know that climbing is there way of escaping? Just curious. Thanks!

I agree with Robin and Raul. But maybe in this case the spider trait is a little stronger than usual:rolleyes: Outstanding example of a spider by the way!:gj:

Escape? or explore? When my snake is out cruising around and I let him out of his enclosure after a while he gladly goes back to his nice warm spot in his hide when i offer it. If he's trying to escape there is likely something wrong with your setup.

I have 2 hides - both pretty tight... she stays in them all day.
You know, before I put the branches in the cage she would climb up the walls and fall over all the time... now she climbs on the logs for the most part and seems to lower herself rather gracefully to the floor....

sounds normal to me. most of my ball pythons come out and explore at night time also.

I doubt any of Raul's snakes are trying to escape thier setup's, if they feel secure and tucked in they wont feel like they need to escape. If they have nice tight hides, comfy temp gradient and a steady supply of food why escape? Raul has been pretty successful in my book:gj:

she's got the position down lol. Here she is up there again tonight. She has taken a liking to this spot... she has her routine down... 10 am-12 in the hide... 12am - 10pm on the branch :)

i have a few that think they're GTP's. my branches are mounted, and can't move. These are my displays as well, no branches in tubs. The animals are happy, eat like pigs, and like to perch on a branch nightly (if not digesting). I've never seen one fall, there's plenty for them to "hang on" to. I think they're like people. some are normal, and will follow the rules, and some are just weirdos.... :p

My BP is a climber too. He never falls and likes to cruise around and hang out. I think he's having an identity crisis. LOL He doesn't seem stressed and is happy.
