advice needed Thanks

Hey everyone i got 1 66%het pied,1 pos het pied baby and 1 female het pied the 100% het was advertised as around 300g ok. now they have not ate for me since i had them i had them for a month now i weighed her today and she weighs 256g i asked the seller when the last time they ate he said "The 100% het ate a small rat and the small one ate a rat pink the week before you got them. The bigger female ate two-three weeks before. She ate live med rats." don't know how shes scared of a small rat....
now here's my ? was it wrong for the seller to send me 3 snakes that went off feed before i got them that's if they even ate then...now i have to take in to consideration he didn't feed before shipping but what about the older girl it just seems like he traded off a headache if that's the case i would like my perfectly feeding male i traded BACK what do the BP.net think?
btw i don't think the girl in the pic can take a small rat more like a weanling you think...

I think anyone who plans on selling their snakes should only sell ones that are eating consistently. 56 grams isn't a huge weight loss but I would keep offering food weekly and monitor their weights to make sure no one is loosing too much.
How long have you had them?

One of the best things to do when buying via the internet is to ask for feeding records from breeders. Most all of the established breeders keep meticulous records with their snakes so everything can be tracked when questions and issues such as this arise.
Now, one thing to keep in kind is that these snakes sound like they were shipped to you, so they may still very well be going through an adjustment phase. The weight loss could be a concern and as such, a trip to your vet may be in order just to make sure it's in good health.
Unless you see where others have left feedback about the vendor you traded with, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that he tried to pawn off his headaches onto you. I would suggest staying in contact with him and between the two of you, hopefully an amicable solution can result. I wouldn't write these pets off just yet though. Some take longer to adjust than others. Patience and care are the keys to helping them adjust to their new home. ;)

For one month I believe it is a huge weight loss.Our female pastel wouldn't eat for six weeks and she lost no weight and even gained some.I would be calling the seller and tell him you want to trade out for the same type of snakes.Our pastel went back off feed and I have been in contact with the seller and he said he would fix it if the BP didn't start to feed soon. This is what a trustworthy seller would do.

Some snakes take the stress of shipping harder than others. Just because they haven't eaten, doesn't mean you were sold non-feeding snakes.

my 300g snakes have poo'ed out that much.

The weight discrepancy is not huge and can be easily explained, the first weight might not have been on empty this would easily explain the 44 grams difference.

Personally a 44 grams difference is nothing make a big deal of, I could understand if it was an animal advertised as 600 grams and it was only 256 grams however I doubt I would have an issue with something like this.

As for the others it is possible for a BP to skip a week or two every now and then no biggy (that does not qualify as going of feed to me) especially if fed a bigger prey.

As for feeding record not everyone keeps them, I have received snakes without any records (does not really bother me).

The bottom line those are YOUR snakes and if YOU don’t like them or feel like you were done wrong than talk to the seller.

I doubt a 300 gram snake ate a medium rat, I would offer a rat pup( crawler) or even a small mouse. My 40-500 gram snakes only eat weaned rat pups or if they skilled a meal before due to shed I offer a adult asf which is a large meal for them.. most my 1000-1500 grams snakea only eat a small rat or a large asf.
I would offer them each a samll rat ( pup) or a mouse, and go from there also you should ask if they were fed live prekill or f/t prey (which can be afactor as well a snake may be use to either a prekilled or f/t prey not a live one, or the other way around. you will be surprised..

ok to help some of you out i had them a month and since i had them i have not seen any poo yet i told the seller what was going on he never got back to me that's why i need advice this is what he told me the first time i asked when the last time they ate

now the 100% het i can't see eating a small rat unless his smalls are weanlings the bigger female was scared of a small when i offered the first time and i went down a size everytime i offered which was every weekend when i feed i also never handled any of them they went into QT and that was it..

btw i offered mice as well...

Are they in vivs or tubs?
What did the breeder have them in?
Do they have hides?
The Q's could be endless

I got a little fella in Feb. 227g, he went off feed for 6 weeks, with a weight drop, I finally figured, he should go into a smaller tub, he hasn't missed a meal since.

Just make sure your husbandry is spot-on and they'll come around and feed :)

everything is perfect i have several other snakes and there the only ones not eating does that seem strange...i just got 5 07 females from a friend i haven't even had them 2 weeks and all of them ate :confused:

What are you keeping the little guy in?

It seems as though you are convinced the person you got these snakes from did you wrong. I'm not really sure what you're trying to get from us other than support to go after the seller. The bottom line is, if YOU think you were wronged by the person you got these snakes from, then go after him. It's that simple.

If you are so concerned about the weight loss, then I don't understand why you aren't seeking veterinary care for your snake. Without having some sort of credible proof to substantiate your claim that your snakes might be ill, you'll have a hard time trying to garner support from the members here for going after a vendor, or whoever it was that you got your snakes from.
Personally, I would exhaust all avenues first to ensure there aren't any health problems with your snakes. If there are, get it documented and then go after the seller. I would be very careful calling someone a bad trader on the grounds you have right now. But, it's your call in the end.

I agree with llovelace, just because the snakes are not eating does not mean that they were not eating for the seller. Also just because your other snakes are eating in their enclosures does not mean that the new snakes feel secure in their new enclosures. What are you keeping them in? The smaller snakes may need six quart tubs, and the larger one may need a twenty-eight quart or thirty-two quart tub in rack systems to feel more secure.
