    Please Help!!
Well i have had my boa for 3 years now and we jsut moved him into his bigger cage 6x3x2. The temps are good there 81 hot side 79 middle and 78 on the cool end. and the problem is that he is i guess peeing or pooping white stuff that becomes pretty hard after a while. i know its compelty natural but he does it like once or twice a week now and he never has done that before its starting to worry me alot..
also there are days that he will spend day and night in his water bowl..

its might be nothing but i jsut wanted to c what you guys thought about it

That is just urates. It is perfectly fine. Although you need to bump up your warm side a bit IMHO.

Let me get this straight... He has never made urates before now/ you've had him for 3 years and didn't notice before? how big is his water dish/bucket? How often does he get fresh wa? How often do you clean/scrub/disinfect his water dish?

Ya, I'm slightly confused by that as well. However, if it has them now, which is normal, and the temps are alright, then maybe things are going fine now. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt.

@Andrew- you and I are on the same page. I wonder what was wrong with it before O_O. Not passing urates isn't a very good sign...

@OP/Mars- was your animal sick before? what were you feeding it? whats the humidity at? AKA- you should be more concerned with the fact that you hadn't seen them before now, then you are that its doing it now, feel me?

I think the op means he wasn't doing it as often before. I could be wrong though. That's just the way it seems to read. Some clarification might be in order.

OHHHHHHHH. Ok now I'm much less concerned but it still puzzles me.. My snakes urate probably.. oh.. once a week but they are ball pythons. I can't imagine that red tails and ball pythons differ to much from each other in the matter of defecation. This is going to sound strange but do could you give a description of the urates? is there anything strange about them? quite frankly it sounds (to me) that your snake may have been a bit dehydrated before now? maybe the humidity/ weather of spring is getting to it.

    Re: Please Help!!
He may just be drinking more water or in a higher humidity environment because of the new cage. Once or twice a week isn't abnormal.

does the urates follow a pattern? such as after a shed/big meal/ change in pressure systems moving through your area?
