Yeah I had to send them a not so thrilled email . They really need to get a grip, who was it that introduced the HIV virus to the human population!?

Re: Burms spread the swine flu....
saw something on animal planet today; these dorks tracked down a burm, and one guy jumped on it, grabbing it's head (maybe16' 150lbish). the guy starts yanking the snake back and forth, and of course, the snake throws some loops to try and pull her head out. they explained that this was the snakes attempt to kill and crush them, that they could become it's next meal.
4 guys later, they got this dangerous man-eating monster out.
don't you love television?

Re: Burms spread the swine flu....
Great now the people who proposed HR669 some more ammo for their next try at ruining the lives of so many ppl.

Re: Burms spread the swine flu....
Funny how they are worried about a measly 10 million to get the invasive species under control when the government just spent a trillion dollars on stimulus packages over the last 2 years.

Re: Burms spread the swine flu....
if i read it properly,it said LIKE the swine flu,and never said burms spread it?,the only direct named disease linked with animal, was monkeypox, which oddly,,was true,i wish i could blow holes in that article, but,,,,,,
not saying the article is good for us,but they didnt falsy claim anything,it is common knowledge that wild animals can hold diseases when transported,do you think the ball pythons we got ch for 8 bucks from the person here, went through a very check and disease screen before being here and is still that cheap?..i'll get flamed for this,,,but oh well..i read what i read

know whats kind of ironic,we had this monster disease in the us twice before, once in the 70's and once in the 80's and they said it could be spread by pigs, but if we had it before, why isnt there a vaccine?

breeding since the early 90's,a large female can lay 100 eggs,if 40 survive, say her first breeding was in 97,thats be,12 x 40,480 from one girl,i would imagine by now there is a couple thousand breeding females down there,i wouldnt say 30,000 is an unreasonably high estimate,it could actually be a low estimate to be honest.i know one person who goes down there for 10-12 hours and catches atleast 7-8,must re release them as being in the park though, but then a big name breeder who i know, has said hes been down there with fish and game and all thier scientific snake finding tools, and not found one.so the exact number is hard to tell........

Re: Burms spread the swine flu....
The article is full of flaws. South East Asia, swine flu, etc etc. It's just not making any sense. Then a picture of the snake?
Maybe if they were also smuggling human cargo...
What a load of bs. Great. Another angry email for me to write. This is getting old!

Re: Burms spread the swine flu....
if i read it right, theyy just used the swine as an example,,but to be honest, southest asia can be a hot bed of diseases,,i think this was bad timing on the article,,but i dont see lies in it

Re: Burms spread the swine flu....
I normally like watching the Discovry channel but...Why would they spread this when they are suppposed to be an educational channel? Why dont they have their facts straight?
-
Re: Burms spread the swine flu....
The author of the piece is intentionally capitalizing on two different lines of currently popular hype in order to sell the article. Journalistic standards seem to be a thing of the past where the only important criteria is whether or not you can sensationalize an article enough to sell it.
I used to really like the Discovery channel, but they've been going the way of so many other Cable channels where they seem to be dumbing it down in order to reach the widest possible audience. Animal Planet went that way a long time ago, and others like Discovery, the History channel (what I've been referring to lately as the Hysteria Channel) and even the National Geographic channel seem to be in a race to the bottom trying to pick up more market share by appealing to the lowest common denominator. I guess you just can't put on decent programming and make a profit at the same time.

Because the government owns the discovery channel. And the government does what ever they want including lying... do you actually believe what you see on TV because its on a certain channel.
