I am looking at getting a 2nd ball python and was wondering if it would be ok to go in with the one I have already. My current python is male aprox 20months old. Any help?

It's not recommended to house ball pythons together. Each animal should have it's own enclosure. Not to mention, you should practice quarantine (animal in preferrably seperate room, with seperate tools and furnishings).

Nope it is not okay. For at least a couple of reasons.First cross contamination of sickness or mites. At first you shouldn't even keep them in the same room for a couple of months to make sure your new snake is not sick or has mites. Second reason BPs will dominate the other causing stress to both and causing them to go off feed. You should not put them together unless you are breeding.

Multiple snake housing is not recommended to beginners. Only advanced keepers should even attempt doing this. The risks are just too high.

Thanks guys. I do have a seperate viv just wont be bid enough for a fully grown snake, but will take time for new snake to grow fully anyway.

Well, for reference, you can keep a full grown BP in a 20g long tank :)

I personally wouldn't keep a ball python in a 2ft x 1.2ft enclosure unless it is very small. A 20gal would be okay and a 30gal would be even better. Definitely don't put it in that little tank you have now, and, like everyone already said, definitely don't put the two snakes together :)

GLAD YOU ASKED!!!!!!! no it is a VERY bad idea to put any other animal but prey into your ball pythons enclosure. I've seen full grown ball pythons actually try to eat a cage mate:O. Not pretty... if your gunna get a new snake get it its own everything. That way you don't come home to one snake... or *gulp* one dead snake... instead of 2 living snakes.
