    Dumb Question About Racks..
I want to set up my BP's enclosure on something that can later be turned into a rack because I know I will be getting more then one. My first idea was to build a rack/shelf system with black melamine. My other idea was to use plastic storage bins. I do not see many people using them and I wonder why? What are the cons of using these in comparison to wooden racks with plastic tubs? If I do go with this idea I am thinking of getting something like this but larger, and with more 'tubs'. I most likely won't since I probably won't find one 30" Wide and to my liking, but I thought I'd throw the idea out there.

    Let me know, thanks.

The storage bins won't work for rodent or snakes, they are not escape proof. you'd be batter off buying or building a rack system.

yeah, the inside is not secure and they can easily move around inside and get out. I have seen people use the taller ones for rodents though.

The escaping issue is what I figured the problem would be. I was just looking for some alternatives. :) Thanks for the quick response. I'll be visiting Home Depot and Rona tomorrow to look at their Melamine and see how much my (simple) rack would cost me.

I just build one with tubs and heat for under $200. I think that is about the average :)

That's a very good price. I wil go ahead and do that then. I was actually just looking at your rack and the one I want to build is almost identical.

Looking good. FYI, I'm building an 8 shelf rack for 41 qt tubs that is going to come in well under $200 if you don't include the herpstat. Very economical way to store a bunch of animals.

Here is a pic of my rack that I just built and I am using tubs from walmart. I just made the shelves lower to the top of the tub so no lid is needed.
