Re: a quick laying question,
Your female will go in pre-lay shed 14 days after she ovulates, so the question is did you see her ovulate?
Next 27 to 35 days (sometimes more ) following the pre-lay shed she will lay her eggs.
If she has not ovulated yet keep pairing her.
Re: a quick laying question,
so once they ovulate the job is done no need to pair anymore. is this correct.

I usually miss ovulation, but this year I caught two girls on the same day!
Before ovulation the follicles feel hard like a marble or golfball (depending on size). After ovulation they are harder to feel but if you can they will feel more like the egg itself.
Good luck!
Re: a quick laying question,
trust me when you see an ovulation you will know it, she will most likely be streched out and her lower half will be huge.
Re: a quick laying question,
i actually caught the ov this year, and it was obvious, looked like someone shoved one of those animal making ballons in her and over inflated it overnight
Re: a quick laying question,
ovulation does not last for a long period of time...usually a day and can be easily missed...but you will notice her a bit bigger...some girls do not pre-lay shed...this is the exception though not the rule...

Here's a pic of a recent ovulation. And, she hasn't eaten in a month.
