That's awesome!! I love that picture of the little dude with his mouth wide open. It's great to teach kids that snakes aren't the devil.

UHHH... my gosh, I feel mean to mention it, but your pictures tell a lot about weight problems in the U.S., you are a nice exception, but there are a lot of young and supposed to be healthy people in the background who should not look like they do. I do not want to offend anyone and I do not want to make fun of the "fat kids", but i have been working in an health information campaign here and visited around 250 schools doing this and during this time I have seen kids like this at every third or fourth school, not that many in that tight space...

Wow... Is it me or does this seem a little out of place.
Where your observation may be true this thread is no place to point out complete strangers flaws. It could just be health problems that make people the way they are. Not all people gain weight due to just eating.

Actually, you're right. The twins in the first pics have been my close friends since kindergarten. They both have a disorder with their thyroid gland that causes them ti have a really hard time with weight. The other people I can't speak for.

WOW bro, I think you missed the WHOLE point of this thread. I think the point of the thread was how these AWESOME kids and some awesome ppl were enjoying something they are normally not around everyday. This thread was not about obesity in america, I sure did'nt see a Jenni Craig booth anywhere in the pics, Last time I logged in this was BP.net not weight watchers forum. Maybe you should notice its rude as hell to hijack someones thread and while your at try to pick up a few manners.
Puddintain excellent pics! It looks like everyone had a killer time.

Re: Zipper at the petting zoo HE WAS THE STAR!
Great pictures. Glad I am not the only one who takes my baby to school. My daughter is in second grade now. Every year they get two "science show and tell" units, and our snake "Viper' makes the trip. I keep asking the the teacher if it is okay to bring her again, and she just says "are you kidding, all the kids look forward to this day just to see Viper again." We take all her sheds with us and the journal my daughter keeps. Last time we took one of her FT rats as well!!! The kids have gone from being squeamish to being in love!!! I think opportunities like this just raise the type of awareness that is needed for these great animals.

Hey Guys, the kid is guilty of nothing other than speaking his mind. Why don't we quietly let him learn that speaking about fat people will generally land you in trouble if you are not "kindly" in your treatment.
I doubt he's out beating up fat kids.
I doubt he's taunting chubby children.
I doubt he'd tolerate either.
He just said a true thing that is unpleasant to think about, but true nontheless. It is likely that NOT all of those children have medical problems that cause them to be as overweight as they are.
So, stone throwers, how about packing up the weaponry and getting back to another kid, the Puddintain one, doing a cool thing, hmmmmmmm.

This thread is about a petting zoo and some children getting exposed to and interested in various animals - let's keep it to that topic please. :)

Well said.
I love the looks on the kid's faces when they experience snakes up close for the first time. Great pics!

Re: Zipper at the petting zoo HE WAS THE STAR!
Watching videos, pics, or participating in events like this always makes me happy.
I love the looks on people's faces... fear, surprise, amazement, enjoyment.
P.S. You're pretty.

Re: Zipper at the petting zoo HE WAS THE STAR!
x Thanks everybody! The one with the little boy with his mouth open is going in the year book!
-
Re: Zipper at the petting zoo HE WAS THE STAR!
This is great. I'm glad you ended up being able to bring your snake. Looks like everything went over really well with the kids. Thanks for helping educate a few more people that snakes aren't all evil.

Re: Zipper at the petting zoo HE WAS THE STAR!
Yay! That looks cool. I don't think we have any opportunities like that at my daughter's school. Maybe I'll have to join the PTA and get something started. Thanks for sharing your experience and pictures.

Re: Zipper at the petting zoo HE WAS THE STAR!
looked like a ton of fun. is that your school? or are you there showing the animals with a group

Re: Zipper at the petting zoo HE WAS THE STAR!
Ohhh, oppps what did I write again, argghh, yeahh I am really sorry I hijacked this thread, because what you did is really great, so I would like to appologize for my rude comments.
And you can believe me that I do not want to make fun of or bash or disrespect these children, I have been working in a health education campaign, concerning healthy food, sports, relaxing and its benefits and I know that the kids are not the one to blame. I am 31 and I am over making jokes of children and this was not my intent.
And your are right I am a bookie, but I have studied educational sciences and sociology before (now you you see where you end up with this) and I am well aware of the problems some of my customers might have, but I need to pay my rent, even though I feel guilty sometimes.
Keep up your good work and I will try to keep my mouth shut (or fingers from typing) more often, when I have nothing valid to say.
All the best.
