Well hello hello...
Totally new here. I arrived at the site by chance, through Bruce Whitehead, who informed myself and a friend about it when we were picking up snakes from him in Montreal to bring back to the Ottawa area for fostering while he works through his tough times.
Currently I don't have any ball pythons myself, however I've always been a fan, and am starting to become an even bigger one. My tastes are expensive though and it'll probably be a while before I could even dream of purchasing the ones I like.
My current collection consists of the following:
Geckos
4.7.3 Rhacodactylus ciliatus (crested gecko)
1.2.1 Rhacodactylus auratus (gargoyle gecko)
0.1.0 Rhacodactylus sarasinorum
1.2.0 Uroplatus sikorae (mossy leaftail)
0.1.0 Urplatus phantasticus (satanic leaftail)
Snakes & Lizards
1.0.0 Morelia spilota variegata (irian jaya carpet python)
1.0.0 Elaphe guttata guttata (cornsnake - reverse okeetee)
0.1.0 Corallus caninus (emerald tree boa)
1.0.0 Pogona vitticeps (bearded dragon - hypo translucent)
So I'll be pokin' about the forums now. It seems like a really awesome place here. And we'll see how long I can go before buying my first ball python.

Re: Well hello hello...
Hello and Welcome!
Be wary once you buy one bp it is all down hill, just a matter of how fast you end up rolling down that hill :)
It would be great to have you around, many thanks for the help you've given Bruce. Reptile folks are the best kind around!

Re: Well hello hello...
Oh you're doomed now for sure! :P
Thank you so much for offering your aide and assistance to Bruce! I know may of us in the States felt helpless in what we could do to help with the foster situation, and it's such a comfort to know that his animals are in good hands!

Re: Well hello hello...
I'll say it too. Thanks for helping Bruce. I've only been here a couple of months, but I still feel for him and his snake family. I'm so happy people are coming together like this to help him out. It gives a lot of hopes in dark times.
As for balls go. Good luck trying to hold out. I had one given to me for Valentine's Day. Now I have three!!

Re: Well hello hello...
Thanks everyone for the kind welcome. Helping Bruce I think was a no-brainer. He's obviously an awesome guy and would've done it for another person had the roles been reversed. It's one less thing for him to worry about for the moment while he works on piecing everything back together... I think that's the general sentiment for all who are lending a hand in fostering his slithery family while he works through everything.
Back in late '07 I was bitten by the crestie bug and was over 30 at one point but scaled back a little. Now I just have some really nice ones I'm working with... I kinda want to do the same with ballpythons. Make sure the ones I get are ones that I truly like. If I get them. (Yeah right... if...)
Maybe I'll save some pennies for this huge Canadian expo we have coming up in September. By then there should be a really nice selection of ball pythons kicking about. And BHB might even be in the house so who knows?

Re: Well hello hello...
Hiya Stephan and welcome to BPNet! If you need any help navigating the site just holler. The Admins names are in red, the Mods are in green. :)
I said it in the other thread but it never hurts to say these things again. Thank you and all your friends for doing this for Bruce and his snakes. I know you don't think it's a big deal but for his friends here, frustrated because we are far away and cannot help in such a practical way - it's a huge deal and we deeply appreciate what you've done. In the process perhaps we're making some new friends ourselves which is always a good thing. Just please know that BPNet and it's staff and membership think you folks rock! :)
As far as ball pythons, well put it this way - I started with 1 as a pet snake. The current count is 36 but then we haven't had any eggs yet this year.

Re: Well hello hello...
So if you have 36 then does that mean you have a few to spare? ;)
I've already started doing research into what size of tubs I would want to use for a rack systems (babies, juvies, sub-adults, adults), how tall I'd want to build it (so it can fit down stairs, etc.) and what wood I would want to use... AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE ONE YET. Haha.
I keep telling myself it's just fun planning though. Nothing serious. But then that's what happened with the crested gecko rack and now I have a large structure behind me that holds 13 exoterras and another to the side that holds 11. LOL.

Re: Well hello hello...
Welcome! I was hoping to see some of Bruce's friends pop up around here. Keep us updated, and let us know if theres anything we can do to support you guys as well. :gj:
As well as the tub thing.. ;)
What I use (and many other people use on this forum (except the weights are my preference):
6qt - Hatchings-Juveniles (200g)
15qt - Juveniles (200g)-Sub Adults(800-900g)
32qt - Sub Adults(800-900g)-Adults(1000+)
41qt - Large Females (2000+)
Like I said, these are my preferences, and some of the weights will vary with names of ages as well as tubs.. so not everyone will consider a Sub-Adult to be 900g. :]
Sometimes, all you need is an extra push. ;)
