    CoastalxJungle?
Hey, I'm going to be getting a carpet python this weekend at the petstore I work at and they have Coastal, Jungles and 1 CoastalxJungle babies. For some reason I really want the CoastalxJungle cross.

I was wondering, is there any reason not to get a hybrid carpet python?

What are you alls thoughts on Hybrids?

If anyone has has a CoastalxJungle I would like to hear more about them.

the 'bad' thing about them is when they get misrepresented as one or the other or the lineage info gets lost in the shuffle and they get bred back to a coastal or jungle.

think of it like having pure pitbulls, but someone gets a boxer x pit that they think looks really cool, then they pollute the breeding lines with the mixed breed.

from a 'pet' standpoint though, they are just as nice (maybe nicer) that anything else.

I'm here for pretty animals. Couldn't care less, except for a very nice carpet. IE: If my jungle jag was actually a coastal.... ect. If you pay a lot, you really need to be getting what you pay for. If you're into it for just a pet then whatever you pick up is great, as long as it's nice to you.

    Yeah I agree completely David.

I know my Jungle must have some diamond in there... ah well, he looks like a Jungle!

IL post pics later, even if she's not full blooded I still love her.

I had choices, I picked her because of her temperament not because of her color. I'd rather have a not as good looking carpet with a calm disposition than an outstanding looking carpet that is really skiddish and nippy.

    But hey thats just me.

I'm gonna go a bit off main topic.

Carpets as babies are usually nippy. However, even some mean ones will become lap cats once handled. It's just the will of the owner to tame them over the pain of being bitten countless times.

    I don't call them 'bites'.

    I call them 'snake kisses'.

Right, but I do beleive some stay nippy even if handled frequently. I also believe snakes of the same 'genus'? (not sure if thats the right word) can have different personalities.
