My Pet Scorpion
I've had this little guy/gal for a bit over a year. I got him when he was 2i, now hes 3i. I have no earthly clue why it's so fat, as it's been that way since after its 2i mole to 3i.

Re: My Pet Scorpion
Wow :O Is that a flat rock scorpion that is 3rd instar? I have never seen one that big unless it was gravid. That's interesting :gj:

Re: My Pet Scorpion
LOL, I know that little sucker is fat, It has got a few more instars till adult, I want to say like 3-4 depending if male/female. Its a Parabuthus Transvaalicus aka Black Thick Tail

LOL most people don't know they have the ability to fling venom from their tail, not really sure how accurate it is. I have never had that pleasure yet. I don't know if I will or not. I just can't wait till it matures, they're beautiful then.

Re: My Pet Scorpion
Nice scorp neal. After the whiptail scorpion I just got that is definetly next on my list of inverts!!:gj:

Re: My Pet Scorpion
Just be mindful the P. Transvaalicus has a higher rating on the ld-50 chart. If you don't have any scorpions, then I wouldn't recommend you getting a P. Transvaalicus first, they're expensive as babys as the adults usually sell for around $90. For a first scorpion I would recommend a Emperor, Desert Hairy, Flat Rock Sp's. Those are great starter scorpions. If you already have scorpions, then I would say step up to the Arizona Bark Scorpions. Just my advice as being kept scorpions for a few years.

Re: My Pet Scorpion
Cool neal i've seen your posts inside the snake forums but didnt know you were into scorps too. :D
I must second your comment on the emperor scorps for beginners... I started with them then went to the desert/sand varieties and came back to exclusively emperors, I just love the guys cant say enough good about them.

Some dude from AB posted a video of one squirting venom.
So they actualy squirt it, not flick it.

Re: My Pet Scorpion
how much are you feeding and how often? that thing is way overweight!!
-
Re: My Pet Scorpion
It looks preggo!
Also, that squirting is crazy cool. It looks like that pinching may hurt though. :O
Neat scorpion, I love the little buggers.

Re: My Pet Scorpion
It's going to molt guys.
Not pregnant or overweight. :)
I had 3 siblings and one of them molted like 5 months ago.
For some reason its siblings are still fat after many months.
Weird.

Re: My Pet Scorpion
i have never had a premolt look like this.

What type of scorpion did you have?
I've seen WAY fatter scorpions.

Re: My Pet Scorpion
0.1.6 B. jacksoni (female gravid)
0.0.4 B. gigas
3.4.0 P. imperator
1.3 P. cavimanus (female gravid)
1.1 H. arizonensis
and if they are fat after a molt, my bet is over feeding.
