My kijiji Purchase (from general)

This is the pastel from the kijiji add i i posted in the BP general section. I know he is a pastel but...idk what kind...maybe someone can shed some light. Doesnt look like NERD or graziani. Also, from this purchase, he came with a homebuild hide, fake vines and the like, a Rheostat deluxe (2 outlets), 2 overhead lamps and one has a light dimmer attached, a plastic stone looking water dish, a very big zooMed heating pad, a 20 gallon tank (from what they say, its deffinetly bigger, and a 55 gallon tank. Yeah...all for $75...i win lol. Anyways, heres the little guy (he is a male). Active guy wouldnt stay STILL!! so sorry for the odd pics

Pretty normal but he is not a pastel. Pastels have clear bellies and green eyes.

His eyes are green, you can kinda tell in that one pic, and i've never heard of a pastel clear belly thing, my male graziani doesnt have a clear belly

I will try to get a few more shots tomorrow and get more of his belly and his eyes.

K, here is my Graziani male. Man I need to get updated pictures of him! See how the belly is clean/white? That's how the whole belly is supposed to be.

Thanks for the link, i'll take a look at it now. Ill try to get him to hold still so i can get a pic of his eyes better. hes just always on the move! lol. Yeah, just looked at my graz's belly, he has a couple specs of black. but i see how yours is plain white.

dude that does not look like a pastel ! but i could be wrong post better pictures !:cool:

the very nice high grade pastel photos can be very misleading cause pastels can be a very low grade and not really look like one.

You still got a great deal! even if it is a normal

It's a really pretty normal, but not a pastel. You can see in that one pic of the eyes- they're not green.

if it wasnt for his eyes i'd agree with everyone that hes a normal, but his eyes are green

Just as an FYI normals can have green eyes as well its not something reserved to just pastels. I don't think that is a pastel though, not enough fading on the head and the belly is not clear enough.

It is tricky... if a pastel a very low grade one. But I would err on it being normal.

And I easily have 8 - 10 normals with green eyes, and I have a pastel that does not have green eyes. So there is a bit of variance.

Normal, sorry. It doesn't look even like a very low grade pastel.
Most pictures of high grade pastels actually show what the snake really looks like. They really can be that brilliant of a color. Most of my pictures of my pastels make them look duller than real life.

It's a pretty snake, but not a pastel, IMHO.

Nice animal but it doesn´t even come close to a Pastel. He doesn´t have the blushed head pattern and also no flames on the side. And the color also tells me that it isn´t a Pastel for sure. The only ´Pastellish´ thing on him are his eyes but i have lots of normals with light-colored eyes and also some with green eyes.
All together you got a great deal with all the stuff and the snake for 75 box but sorry, no Pastel...

Sorry, that is not a pastel.

He looks like a normal to me, just about no blushing on the back... and none on the head. But im no pro.

Normal, but pretty. I've always liked the lighter eyes. I have a high-gold, banded female who has green eyes and a clear belly. Not a pastel though :) (actually looks more like an enchi, LOL!)

My pastel male has green flecks all over his belly, instead of the normal white most have.

Actually you do know... after the number of people that have noted it is a normal... it is a normal.

It looks even less like an enchi than it does a pastel, and it seems that the consensus is that it does not look like a pastel.

Definitely not an enchi.

Breed him and you will produce more of the same. Normals. :)

haha, yeah, we'll see. I think i may get some good normals out of him and i have nothing else to breed to my 2nd female next year (unless i wanna pick up another male) but its gonna be my first year attempting so i wanna start slow. Thanks bruce

Eyes are the worst indicator for a pastel, as some pastels can have brown eyes just as much as green eyes.
The perfectly clear white belly is a big indicator, as well as the pattern and side color.

I'm sorry, but I'm 100% sure that it is not a pastel, it does not have the belly of a pastel or the pattern.

It's a pretty normal, but not a pastel or an enchi. But looks healthy! Congrats!

Not gonna say what others have already stated because..well...it has been stated many many times. What I will say is it a really pretty snake and it is a reduced pattern like a female I have. Great pickup for $75 though!

Also, isn't that green eyes on pastels like REALLY green? not just a light brown look like the pics the OP posted? just curious.

really?? because part of the reason we are here is to educate people new to the hobby. for that reason alone you cant run around calling a snake a pastel if its not. and, no disrespect intended, but the OP confirmed that they were going to breed this animal. what if the majority of a clutch of normals was sold as "low grade pastels"?

doing something because it "makes you happy" does not make it right or responsible.

I was meaning that my female looks more like an Enchi, being banded and green-eyed. Not that yours looks like an Enchi, which is definitely does not.

He's a nice normal, wild-type Ball Python. Nothing more. You're only going to make more normals with him, which isn't bad, but it is what it is.

As of now im saying its probably a normal. If his babies look like him, i'll know hes a normal. Because from what i know even is a pastel is low grade, it doesnt mean his/her babies will be. correct me if i'm wrong on that.

also, i dont think anyone was being harsh or wanted to come off as being harsh. i understand people ALWAYS post things asking if they're snake is a morph and can understand if its frustrating. Its cool, i like this community and dont think anyone is here to hurt other people. so again, THANKS for all the input

Def not a pastel nice clean normal though.

Sorry buy it's a normal. Why even bother breeding it? Cut your loses and buy a breeding size pastel male for a few hundred...

You should breed him to a nice pastel female his nice clean pattern may lend something nice to the mix for some wicked pastels.

Because shockingly there are people out there that would love to buy normal ball pythons!! Maybe not in this hobby that focuses on selling to breeders by breeders, but the pet industry that Petco and Petsmart cater to DO want normals, because that's all they know, and for them, it truly is a PET.

good call connie. Let him breed if he wants. It's the only way to tell if it is a morph. Besides he's gotta start somewhere. Might as well do it on a normal, and move up from there.

yeah, thats what i was thinking stratus. i'm starting with a normals and pastels, only (hopefully) 2 clutches next year. 2 easy starts. Then that year (if everything goes well) i'll move to a spider and maybe try some bees. thanks for the support. idk about sellin them to petsmart or co...but maybe to some friends or something, i just need to start to see if im getting myself in to deep.
