People still starve in Africa while the West lives in decadence.

Re: The World We Live In
We spend more money on funding death than we do on curing peoples ailments

People's lift kits and paint jobs are worth 3x what their car is.

My father.
People are afraid of wolves, yet no healthy wolf has killed a human, and multiple people are killed by dogs a day.

Re: The World We Live In
Some people in some prisons have better living than some innocent, law-abiding citizens
Convicted felons have the right to vote

Re: The World We Live In
Congress people can propose bans they have no personal clue about other than what they are told. "Puppets"

Re: The World We Live In
In this country, it costs more money to house each inmate in a small cell, than the median income of each person who works to support himself.

That we are allowed to treat our animals better than we can our family members when it comes to death and suffering...

Felons don't have the right to vote everywhere... But regardless they SHOULD have the right to vote. Did this in debate and am willing to discuss :D

To eulenspiegel
I will have to pass on your discussion, My family is a strong believer that people in prison, who have broken the law, threw away their rights when they broke the law, and don't get me started on capitol punishment
so lets just agree to disagree :P

Re: The World We Live In
I say we have a face-off...

Excellent discussions are only fun if the two viewpoints are the extreme opposites. So by saying they threw their rights away you mean that they broke the social contract and therefore should not be members of a society anymore? But then why would you release them back into society? Also if you see that there is no chance of reform why bother with prison sentences? Why not kill anyone who harms the society through stealing, killing etc...?
Its on brotha :D

Re: The World We Live In
that according to the FBI's best estimates, 1 in 4 people convicted of rape in the US are innocent
-
Re: The World We Live In
O boy,
You are thinking ahead of me, I am not saying that if they go to prison they should not be released, I am saying that during their term in prison, they should not have a say in the community/government etc. Stealing is the least of the problems when it comes to people in prison. Killing on the other hand, in the first degree, SHOULD be a death sentence, why waste the tax payers money to give convicted murderers a better life than some of the people who have broken the law and killed someone.
Also, I did not say that there is no chance of reform, people who steal I am all for them getting out for a second chance in society, in which they WILL have their rights to vote along with other things.
Thats all I am going to say on this topic, as much as I hate to see DutchHerp
without the entertainment of us "debating". haha
The World We Live In...People have debates about prisoners rights on a reptile forum :P

Re: The World We Live In
Every year, 5.4 million people are killed by a slow, very sluggish moving train, one they can see, smell, hear, and feel coming. Yet they are still standing on the tracks!
This is why I quit smoking, I don't want to get hit by a sluggish train.

...
Though I would agree with you but because of our laws..
Prisoners appeal after appeal and court fees and so forth make it cost the tax payers more money to try to "apply" the death sentence to a prisoner then to let him live life in prison.. Sad huh...

Re: The World We Live In
:hijackd: (I've been waiting to use that for a while!)
Sorry, Pat, it was a good thought!!!
My line:
People's parents are paying for their college education at a big University when they don't even want to go. While some people are taking out HUGE loans and working multiple jobs just to go to the local Community College... :weirdface

Haha well Felon can mean someone currently incarcerated and someone who has been released. I was making statements about a "ex-felon" who had paid his dues to society. While in jail I do not feel a felon has the privilege to vote so I agree :)

Re: The World We Live In
ooooooh! I have another!
In every evacuation scene in the movies, where the end is near, you see grid-locked cars for miles...and no one has though to actually move on a bike o.O

Re: The World We Live In
We can download high res DVD files for free, and watch them on a T.V. faster than a trip to the video store takes, and CD's faster than a trip to the local Best Buy.
When a B.S. bill gets introduced, we have the ability hear about it immediately, research it and crush it, without hardly getting out of our arm chairs.

Re: The World We Live In
People being concerned over the well-being of "exotic-pets" kept by loving keepers, while munching a chickenfilet produced in the distgusting massproduction of the human food industry... i really hate these hypocrites....
I do not want to discuss death punishment, but if you support it, you should now it is capital, not capitol, or do you want to smash the criminal with a huge building...? Do not get me wrong, but it could be a simple mistake like this, that could cost an innocent persons life, it happened and will happen...
