I am not 100% sure at the moment, but i believe it was 100% heterozygous Albino.. Have to find the paper.. That's why i made this thread, because they are so similar to normals. Or.. idk
-
Re: What's kind of Ball is this?
That explains it perfectly. When something is Heterozygous for a recessive gene, it means they CARRY the recessive gene but are not the visual creation of that gene. Meaning, that what you bought is sort of, an Investment into breeding an Albino Ball Python. In a moment I'll post up a little how it works.

Hets are normal looking ball pythons that carry the gene to produce a visual morph.

If it is 100% het for any recessive gene you can't tell by looking at it. They all have a normal apperance. You should have got some paperwork with him, if either parent was an albino then he is 100% het.

Re: What's kind of Ball is this?
Why did you buy it if you didnt know what it is?

AHHA, alright, no, you we're NOT ripped off. Most likely.
I thought that might be the situation..
Heterozygous (het) is a genetic term that means it carries the gene but does not show it. If you bought another het albino, you could breed them eventually and produce albinos, which look like this;

Your snake is not supposed to look different, because it carries the trait of a recessive gene.
However, if you don't plan on breeding, you probably should've just purchased a normal ball python.. it would've been much cheaper and more effective to your purpose. :]

If you want to get another snake later on, you can look at some of the more inexpensive morphs. Pastel males run on at 100-150 dollar range.

Re: What's kind of Ball is this?
Hey, nothing wrong with having a het as a pet. If you decide to breed later maybe pick up an Albino or het Albino to try to prove him out as a het.

Re: What's kind of Ball is this?
And it's a she!! If you're not going to breed albinos then you should post her up for trade..
From the picture and you asking what it is, I say she looks like an Anaconda.

Re: What's kind of Ball is this?
Get her a 100% het albino boyfriend for the future :P

Re: What's kind of Ball is this?
Hmm, I been thinking of getting an adult normal... So i was wondering 2 things...An adult normal will defitnely not fit in a 20L correct? Will me selling this Het to get an adult snake be stupid or something? I just really don't need it, because i have no plans for breeding...
-
Re: What's kind of Ball is this?
Well an adult male should be fine in a 20L. If you are getting a huge female, I would go with a 30L maximum.
-
Re: What's kind of Ball is this?
Where are you located? A lot of breeders are always looking for more female hets. I'm sure you can find someone who would be happy to trade you for a nice pastel or something as long as you have the paperwork.

well it really just depends. females usually top off around 5 feet and males around 4 feet. They aren't too much bigger, usually a females girth is much bigger to compensate for eggs.
