Have You Ever .............
Well let me start by saying I hope this is in the right place. This is mainly a "What would you do" post. I got the go ahead to pick up a new female BP Morph that would go good with future project from my very loving and understanding wife Liza. I found this animal for sale from a seller I've used a few times in the last year and felt comfortable making the purchase. Now I must stop here and say I have only dealt with this seller on a reptile show level, never in a shipping situation. I made payment on Mon. April 6th by direct deposit into his bank account (we bank with the same bank). Now I can understand not getting the animal shipped out on Mon. as the funds may not get to his account until the next day. I received a call from the seller on Tues. morning letting me know the funds had arrived. Now there was another problem the seller asked me the price on his website when I called him about the purchase. I went to his site while having him on the phone (gotta love a fast laptop) and gave him the price that was listed on his then not totally finished site. The problem lies in the fact that as of Tues his site(now finished and immaculate) is higher. Fine I offer to pay the difference which wasn't much more, he said no don't send the difference, and to let him see if he made a mistake. He said that the difference in price wouldn't stop him from shipping and he would get back to me. Tues goes and Weds. comes and no call so I contact him and he says he is looking at a Mon ship date as he was going to be predisposed weds. night and all of Thurs. and he would rather send out the animal instead of an employee.
With all the delay it's starting to make me wiery and kinda wanting to walk away from the deal which I'm hesitant to do because I kinda like the deals I get from this seller. So I guess the reason for this post is to get some "outside of this box insight", so give it which ever it might be lol.

Re: Have You Ever .............
It sounds like the guy is having organizational issues with an unfinished website, busy schedule, and perhaps a number of other things.

Re: Have You Ever .............
End of story is he has your money now. I would try to maintain an open line of communication with him in a professional and calm manner. In the meantime you may want to call your bank and ask what you could possibly do to retrieve your funds if things turn sour, it never hurts to be prepared. If you've bought from him at shows on more than one occasion and have been pleased with the animals then there should be nothing to make you feel concerned about. If you don't here back follow up on friday to confirm the Monday delivery date.

Re: Have You Ever .............
It was brought to my attention that it could be bad weather where he is at lol I forgot to mention he is about 7 hours(thats putting it in a slow drivers time) from me in southern ca which other than a bit of rain should be having just about the same weather as here in vegas

Re: Have You Ever .............
Most people also will not ship in the later half of the week, just in case something goes wrong. Most shipping seems to be done on monday or tuesday, with wedsday as the last day.
I'd be patient, and ask him to set it up to ship monday, and make sure all the addresses are correct.

Yes thats why I would have assumed he was going to ship on tues after making the call that he had received the funds. Let me say this I haven't said this seller is bad in fact he is a pretty well known guy and like I said I've been very happy with the animals I have bought from in the past at shows. I guess its just a fear of having over a grand out there and not having my purchase. He has said he will ship on mon for a tues delivery and thats fine but what was the delay I mean this is all the seller does he sells reptiles and FEDEX will come pick up the package you don't even have to drive to a depot. I will keep it posted and let everyone know that she arrived on tues

Re: Have You Ever .............
I wouldn't worry about it. Some times real life gets in the way. Give him a couple of weeks to get his stuff together. A lot of the breeders are going full bore into fighting HR669 and have more on their plate than usual. IF at the end of two weeks, there is still and issue, then take it up with him, or anyone else you need to.

It definitely won't make it to 2 weeks believe me lol

Re: Have You Ever .............
Call him. Tell him your worries.
I mean dont call him and be like "I dont trust ya! wheres the snake!"
But I know you know what I mean. Be yourself brudda man.

Re: Have You Ever .............
I don't have much experience in buying / selling and or shipping. But it sounds like the shipping towards the end of the week could be an issue. Plus it never hurts to call the company and inquire. Any good buisness person would be happy to explain the situation and calm your worries.
Let us know how it goes.

Re: Have You Ever .............
If you guys have an open line of communication you should be ok.
If he/she is a "runner" not answering emails, phone calls and so forth then I would worry.
But it sounds like you should be ok..
However, in your worst case scenario I do not think you can get your money back without you being the one authorized to withdraw from his/her bank account. He/she will have to send it to you willingly. This is one reason why I like to pay by credit card/Paypal/check/cashiers check. Any of those mentioned you can stop payment or do a "chargeback" to get your funds back or stopped.

Re: Have You Ever .............
People's Court! No, totally joking, I'm sorry. That would be horrible... It is the worst feeling when someone has your money and you're waiting for them to deliver their end of the bargain. Ditto everyone else - keep an open line of professional communication and if he is an honest businessman and cares about his name he should try to work with you. If he's an established enterprise and you said you felt comfortable buying from him, then he more than likely isn't the type to just take your money and give you the run-around. But you know better than anyone since you have dealt with him personally before. Just sounds like he is a bit unorganized at the moment. Hope everything works out and you get a beautiful morph, keep us posted :)

Re: Have You Ever .............
Another possibility . . . many breeders will delay shipping until the check has cleared . . . not just received, but deposited and his bank said it cleared. Too many bad checks floating out there due to our economy . . . he might have been burned in the past. He should have told you if he had a check waiting period though.
Since you've had good business transactions with him before, it should probably end well. Let us know and post pics when you get your snake.

Well the problem with this statement is I direct deposited it into his account because we both bank with Bank of America which is instant. But onto other events. Me and my wife were on our way to go pic her up yesterday afternoon after a few text msgs back and forth (he had bad reception). Once he found out I was on my way he called and said he wouldnt have access to the snake as he had alot of business to tend to today but he would ship it out today Tues for a Weds delivery(9 days after saying he got my CASH) I said ok well today at 737 PM i got a text, no phone call, that he would send Weds for Thurs delivery. Thinking about making that trip anyways

i would make the trip. it sounds like either he doesnt have the snake in his possession or he may not have shipping materials

Re: Have You Ever .............
Have you checked out this person's reputation on the BOI?
If they have a really good rep, I would not be concerned. Who knows what is holding things up, it could be a family emergency, or that they are focusing on fighting HR 669, or any number of things. Or maybe the person is just really not organized. But if they have a good rep, I'd feel safe that you'll get your snake, even if not in as timely a manner as you would have preferred.
If their rep is not as good, then I'd be concerned. I don't know what you could do, though, if they are really trying to scam you. They already have your money.
Either way, if you feel like making the drive, I would do so. An honest breeder should be understanding that there have been delays and you want the snake already. If it is a scam, well, I don't think driving there is going to help, but at least you won't be kept wondering for so long.
Hope it works out.

Re: Have You Ever .............
While "things happen" occassionally, it is still no excuse for someone not communicating HONESTLY what issues might have cropped up that are prohibiting this vendor from fulfilling his obligations.
Something people need to understand when they begin operating like this is the fact that customers are putting ALOT of trust in you to deliver on your word. If a vendor promises a certain delivery date, then it is expected that, as long as the seller has paid and kept his end of the deal that the seller will do the same. If circumstances come up that change the original outcome of the deal, it is up to the seller to ensure his customer knows of the delay and EXACTLY why there is a delay.
I have had vendors tell me that it is "personal" and none of my business when I inquire as to why I haven't received what I ordered. Well, I hate to break the news to you, but when you take on the responsibility of selling, especially via the internet, your personal business DOES become your customer's business, especially when you're not fulfilling your end of the obligation.
Now, from the sounds of it, this person sent a sizeable amount of money to this vendor and has been getting jerked around when he has tried to find out exactly what is going on. I don't blame him for becoming suspicious and upset and he has every right to begin to question what's really going on here. Excuses only go so far, especially when someone already has your hard earned money. It's time for this vendor to deliver on his goods and stop delivering on excuses. I also think that, should this transaction n ot have a good outcome that this vendor's name and company be made public so others here can avoid similar outcomes. We all work hard for our money and I don't know of anyone who is in a position to just give their money away, especially in today's economy.
I know it sounds like I'm being hard on this vendor, but that's because I've dealt with "reputable companies" before that jerked me around and didn't deliver on their promises. It only takes getting burned once to become suspicious and question motives if things don't go smoothly.
