Down and out because of HR669?????
With all the talk of HR669. I don't want people to start forgetting why they love this hobby so much.

So.... I want to see them your favorite herp or herps and I want to know why. Let see em your everyday visits, the ones you tell good morning and the one you hold before bed.

For me it Midas and Spot

Midas is a dream come true for me I've wanted an Enchi since I first saw one.

And Spot my very first herp and very fist pet that was "mine" not a family pet.. You might as well cut my right arm off as suggest I get rid of him. NEVER HAPPEN!

My favorite Reptile has to be my Hog Island Boa, Peaches. He's just the sweetest little dude, with a stellar personality.

    What a great thread Ed!

Boy is it hard going through my photobucket account and trying to pick out any favorites, since they pretty much are all my favorites LOL, but here's a few....

I guess I have to start out always with Saoirse because for some undefinable reason this snake owns a part of my heart. She isn't our only rescue, she's not the only snake that came here skinny and non-eating and is now doing well but she's the most special to me. Something about holding her now as she confidently yet gently slithers around and remembering the balled up, terrified, skinny snake she once was....it just makes me so proud of her. When there are days that I wonder if this snake hobby is worth all the work and committment, holding Saoirse reminds me that yes it is. :)

    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...se-July083.jpg

Cara's another favorite. Something in her just makes me go "hmmmmm". She's the normal female around here that I think carries the most interesting potential. Always a bonus that she has a lovely way about her and is a joy to handle. Cara helps me dream.

    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...CaraFeb071.jpg

Grace.....just because she's here and she's our Gracie girl.

    http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ceApril092.jpg

I guess I could probably post a picture of every one of the 40 snakes and think of some reason they are special to me but this will do for now. :)

It would be very hard for me to pick just one rep to call my favorite. Each one holds a very special place in my heart for various reasons. From my first iguana to my currentl recent acquisition of the 3 snakes this week, each one is special to me. So, with that being said, I'll post pics of the ones I have that stand out:

Godzilla - He was a rescue that required constant care for almost a month. I used all my vacation time at work so I could stay home and care for him. We had originaly planned a Caribbean Cruise with the vacation time I used to take care of him. Best vacation time I ever spent and the most rewarding too.
    http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Iguanas004.jpg

Zena - Another rescue from a girl who had too many Beardies to give adequte care to. This Beardie lost some toes and the tip of it's tail after being attacked by the other Beardie she shared her viv with. Proof positive Herps deserve their own personal living space in order to survive.
    http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...as/Xena009.jpg

Sheba, Simba, & Merlin - These are the 3 snakes I adopted this past week. I never intended on getting 3 sankes at the same time, but I must say, they all have acclimated beautifully to their new surroundings. All 3 are active, have the most docile temperaments I've seen in any snake and are just a joy to have. I spent all day yesterday just sitting in my Herp room and admiring all 3 snakes as they got used to their new surroundings. Even though my wife is extremely nervous and skiddish, seeing me handle all 3 without incident went a long way last night in establishing some confidence between herself and the snakes. She even managed to touch Simba which wasa first for her and a HUGE step. I am looking forward to winning her over and educating her about these fabulous pets, just like I did the iguanas and Bearded Dragons when we first met.

    Sheba

    Simba

    Merlin
    http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...OurPets059.jpg

Hope that makes sense to everyone. Alot of people find it hard to believe a person can get attached to a reptile and vice versa, but I am a firm believer these animals, just like a cat or dog, can sense a genuine love and compassion for them and the respond accordingly. I look forward to many, mnay years with my pets!

Wow, this thread came just in time! I just got done with a small photoshoot of my fav. 2. lol. I would add our other BP in there, but she is in shed.

Oakley...He was actually traded for our ferrets. My first snake so of course I have a very special place in my heart and would do jail time before I let him go. When we got him he was tiny and skinny along with cold. Well since then he has porked up considerably, more so in the past month.

    When we first got him
    http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...73494_1930.jpg

    The porker now!

Him showing his flames he is starting to develop
    http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._7363477_n.jpg

And then there is Q. He holds a special place just like Oakley does but that is because he was a present from Ashtin.

    I have 2 two favorites.

Plato was my first reptile and I take him everywhere with me. Hes just a plain old beardie but I would never give him up.
    http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a19...1/PICT0085.jpg

Kink is the largest snake I own going just over 3 feet and about 1 year old. The day I brought her home I figured on getting 1 red tail but came home with 3. They told me if I bought this het albino pair they would give me a rare hypo "kink" tail for $50. :P I fell in love with her right away.

Re: Down and out because of HR669?????
I am officially freaking out. How dare they try and tell me that a cat is ok for the environment but my ball python is bad. I have been up all night making copies of a summery of the proposal and I'm going to stick them to cars tomorrow at the two local malls. I love my snakes and I think it is ridiculous how people say that the wild is the only place for them. In a perfect world animals would be able to live in the wild and be safe but because of HUMANS the wild isn't safe. In fact a tub is much safer for a ball python than the wild. Pollution, hunting, oh yeah thats so much better than getting fresh purified water and healthy parasite free meal not to mention vet visits and all the love and attention they get from the people who love them. the PETA thinks that we are doing these creatures harm and thats simply not true. The ban SHOULD be for importing the poor creatures from the wild. But I don't see why we should stop all captive breeding. Just like there are good and bad cops there are good and bad pet owners. Is it fair to punish people who have done nothing but love their animals because some IDIOTS in florida let their burms loose in the everglades!? I propose instead of a ban that there should be the ability to get a permit to own these animals instead of banning them completely. I swear, if HR669 goes through all bets are off. I will probably be on the news for beating up the PETA member that lives 4 doors down that has always said I was going to he-double hockey sticks for keeping snakes and other random small animals. I will make a human into a carrier for my snakes before I let someone take my babies away.

Ummmmm..ya know, it's not good to repress your feelings like this. You really need to learn to let your feelings be known to avoid inner stress and anxiety. ;) :)

Seriously though, I share your same thoughts. Look for the sale of herps to increase substantially as more and more herp owners become aware of this bill. I know we're looking at "stocking up" while we still can!

Well my favorite would have to be my first snake, who named accordingly is George Washington.

He just shed a few days ago so he is looking real good but he didn't want to sit still for any photos but I grabbed a few, a face shot, a quick shot of his beautiful black back, and then a failed attempt at a body shot but he was just moving too quick so it came out blurry:

Enser - your GW has a gorgeous pattern, and such a light color! Very very pretty!! :gj:

    As for me...

Here's the boy that started the addiction!! Meet Paco... I had to give him up upon moving into an animal-free dorm, but he is with a responsible owner now who keeps many other beardies too.

    He started out tiny...
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...1988/Paco1.jpg

    And grew bigger...
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...988/beard2.jpg
    And more and more crazy!

Today I'm all about snakes... And my first BP started it all. The minute I moved off campus, this lady came into my life... I can't believe she was once this tiny.
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../IMG_08861.jpg

That's Caspie, my first BP. She is now nearly 1500g. My favorite part of keeping reptiles is watching them grow... and GROW... and become adults. It's so rewarding to have a healthy, happy adult snake that you raised yourself. :)

I would say my two favs are Nibbles 0.1 Spider cause she was my first and DW 1.0 lesser because he thinks he is a dog. He will always come up out of the tub to you and loves moving around, very friendly. Love them all but I guess I would go with those two because they were my first two.

I sat outside in the warm sunshine with my tegus in their outdoor pen this morning. They ate, and the reds came over to be petted. I took some video from the window, which looks down over the pen. Later, I'll take them fruit. It was a good morning just because of that.

Remember, in the fight against HR669, we can convert them, but they can't convert us.

I will never ever give up Phoenix he's my little scaly baby :D

...and Spot, my very first snake and ball python. He knows who I am and if someone puts thier hand near his face when hes with me he'll sniff and then come right back its so cute.

I don't have any pics yet because I am only getting my 08 male normal on Tuesday from Bailey and Bailey reptiles. I have sent out many letters to the representatives here in my area opposing this bill. I will never let my snake go. I have been planning on getting one for a long time now and no one is going to dash my hopes and chances of having my BP. I will not go down without a fight. Our reptiles are just as much a part of our families as a dog or cat. All I know is I am going to love my snake and take the best care of him that I possibly can. I will be sure to post pics oh him when I get him on Tuesday.
