Sorry if Im missing something.. Do represent what you like if I don't have it.
Thanks Froggy. I thought Desert was ghost. I will check what it is.

Re: Highlighter morphs
While I voted fire, I have a hard time picking between fire crosses and yellowbelly crosses. I think both bring great things into other morphs.

Re: Highlighter morphs
I voted Fire too. But I have an Enchi  huh?
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
I voted fire because of the great fireflies that have been produced. However, I really like the desert and enchi morphs.

Re: Highlighter morphs
They all have their places, but in my opinion, the ultimate cleanup morph is the common ordinary pastel. It does amazing things with just about everything it combines with. Everyone should have at least a dozen of them.

Re: Highlighter morphs
Pastel is'nt really a highlighter its is a base morph in my opinion, fires are the one that does the most for alot of morphs i voted fire all the way!i have a pair they get brighter month after month!

What the heck do you mean 'Base Morph'??? sounds like double speak to me... Pastel is the ORIGINAL highlighter morph.... Just because they no longer command the prices they once did doesn't mean they're no longer relevant in making designers.

Re: Highlighter morphs
I like enchi as a good highlight/cleanup.. great coloration along with true gentic reduced pattern from a single gene? yes please.

If you take Pastel out of a bumblebee, then you are left with a darker spider. If you take a pastel out of any single morph it's combined with, you are taking some brightness away.. Pastel is a morph, correct, but it is a morph that brightens a another morph if combined with it. To me it is the original highlighter morph.

Re: Highlighter morphs
I think Deserts are way over priced.. If even for a thousand, I would not buy them. Just because they are new or HARD TO COME BY, DOESN'T MEAN THEY LOOK BETTER.
I guess I'll never own a desert then if they cost so much more than the others..
Not worthy in my opinion.

Re: Highlighter morphs
prices are, as always, merely a function of supply and demand. Looks of a particular morph affect demand greatly, but you cannot disregard supply when understanding the price of a particular animal.
Supply is very low for deserts so they command a high price. Give it time. I like the combos they have produced but that's about it.

yeah I know that. But for looks, they arent that crazy nor extraordinary to be paying that much money for. But I understand there are low numbers in the market. Honestly, I can wait 100 years for their price to drop or I would never own 1 it doesn't matter. I'd rather spend my money on something else like a stinger bee or a big fat gold chain or whatever. :D

I hear ya
I classify morphs like this
AA- must haves in my collection asap. these are ones that I already have in my collection, am currently looking/paying for, or are being made in my collection (later today too;))
BB- Very very nice morphs, a little too expensive for my current budget but on the list to watch for in the next year or two, especially this hatch season.
CC- Cool morphs, but nothing that really turns my crank too urgently.
DD- Way overpriced, I'd own them if they came cheap but I dont really care either way as space here is not unlimited and I'd rather work with something crazy.
Deserts would be a CC/DD..... Enchis are a BB moving into AA.... but dont tell my girlfriend :D
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
Im with you then.. I got me an Enchi male. I already paid for another Enchi female and she's coming soon. I've owned all three morphs in the voting the poll.. Got rid of the fire and pastels.. The fire I had was something else. Put the Deserts to sleep.
Wish posting pictures wasn't so much trouble or I'd post them up.

Have you actually seen some of the combo's they create? Have you actually seen one in person? I can tell you from personal experience that seeing them with your own eyes blows away the photographs that are out there. I would have blown the $4000 price tag on one at Tinley last year if I would have had the money available.

Re: Highlighter morphs

A 'Desert' is not a 'Desert Ghost'.
A Desert is believed to be a co-dom, no super yet.
A Desert isn't just a 'clean up' gene, it does some amazing pattern mutations. Even on a het clown!
Check out NERD's website for the Desert Ghost, and Pro Exotics for the Deserts and their AMAZING combos. ;)
Psst* Look up on the upper left hand side of the main page, see the Pro Exotics ad? There's a Desert combo there too. ;)

I've never seen a Desert in person. But it can't be that much more dramatic than the nice pictures of them. Im not saying they arent nice. But it's just not worth it to an average Joe like me to spend that much more for something that looks so typical. If I spend on a Desert where am I gonna money for other morphs that I truly like? I don't have thousands sitting around to be wasted like that. You wanted it but you don't even have the money! Do you think it's worth that much? I'll take a nice fire like this one :)

For an average Joe like ME, it's not worth it to spend 4 grand on any snake :( no matter how spectacular, rare, etc.. because then I'd be homeless.
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
IMO, fires are a better highlighter morph than pastels, because pastels brown out with age while fires lighten with age.

i agree totally.

Re: Highlighter morphs
I really like the Vanilla gene as a highlighter snake (not on the list or mentioned ). The best quality of the Vanilla gene is that the super
form is not ANOTHER white snake!!
BTW, if you have seen the Desert/Spider, you would shell out 4k if you could!!:D

Re: Highlighter morphs
Is this topic dead already?? Let's get some more opinion's goin!!
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
i voted fire, but what i really like are fireflys, fire and pastel... amazing, someone need to add enchi and have a super clean up snake. i think pastel are better looking as babies but fire are better looking as adults.
i havn't seen enough fire crosses to compare them with other morphs but the pastel crosses are awesome.
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
pastel. which i just recently purchased a male. need to post pics as soon as get time.
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
I voted fire for the same reason, they just lighten up as they age. When it comes to pastels, it really depends on the quality of the pastel. Pastels that doesnt show too much browning are nice too. And for the enchi, for me, their true qualities in terms of mixing them to other morphs are not yet fully discovered. So im keeping my eye on this morph.:)
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
I picked fire, because I think of a highlighter as cleaning, brightening and enhancing another morph. If vanilla was in the list, that would have made the choice harder since the super form of vanilla would be enhancing too. I would place the desert (co-dom type) in the list of highlighters as well.
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
I picked enchi. I have been feaning for an enchi lately. Just love the glow they bring to other morphs!
-
Re: Highlighter morphs
Is a lesser a highlighter morph?
