what is het Russo & white diamond?

What is a White Diamond and what is a Russo? Im sure they are no special snakes that I've never seen yet but the fancy names got me confused..

Like I see snakes for sale that says het Russo, het white diamionds... What are these? Im thinking they are just leucies.

Yeah they are one of the BluEL group. The lucie is the White Diamond. the het Russo is, well, the het form...

Why Stupid?

Vin worked hard to prove it out.

They are special. They make a white snake...

Vin Russo had some brightly colored ball pythons that he was working with that he called his lemon balls? When breeding two of these together he produced a leucistic ball python that he called the white diamond. Most people that I hear talking about them now call hets from his line 'Het Russos' instead of Lemon balls.

I think he was one of the very first, if not THE first, to produce a leucistic ball python.

Doesn't the Russo produce a black eyed lucie not blue???

Not really sure where that's coming from. Het Russo, Russo Het Leucistic and Het White Diamond are all names referring to a specific mutation/trait.

White Diamond is a name referring to a specific variety of Blue eyed Leucistic.

Vin Russo is the founder of these animals and has every right to call them what he wishes.

They are subtle morphs. But they are NOT Normal.

Just like Yellowbellies are not Normals...

Het Russos are the name of the morph that has a SUPER form, that is the White Diamond, which if you consider it, can be called the Russo as well.

Het Russos are the ones you are calling "Normal".

They are not Normal. They are a morph, called "Het Russos"

Here is the problem with that.

No one calls the Supers "Russos"

They are just called "White Diamonds"

Het Russo x Het Russo = White Diamond.

TECHNICALLY, you could call it a Russo... Or a Russo line Leucistic.

THAT is the only time someone calls it a Russo... when it is called a Russo line Leucistic aka White Diamond.

And it is a solid white blue eyed snake.

HET RUSSO
A CO-DOM mutation called the 'Lemon Ball' that is just lightly colored, with a normal pattern and a clear belly. (like a fire almost). It is not a normal, but would take an experianced eye to be able to tell that it is in fact a morph.

Vin Russo is the breeders name, and he originally called them Lemons, and the supers White Diamonds. He was one of the originators of a BEL at all.

P.S. Fires create black-eyed lucys. You can cross any of the Blue Eyed Lucy 'Hets' (Mojave, Lesser, ect.) to create a white snake. There are no 'normals' that would create a BEL of any type, or it wouldn't be a normal. ;]

Het V. R.'s are far from normal looking -- to my eye anyway. I have one that is also Het Clown and has a BUSY pattern in addition to usual "bling" that a Lemon has. Cool morphs with great potential. :gj::D
