    My ATB
He kicked around up top long enough to snap a pic. Of course I got the idea to take it after I misted his enclosure.

LOL I think the water just woke him up. He's never had a go at me, but i'm always extra careful with him......those teeth are getting big;)

    Nice Waltah!
That is one beauty of a ATB!!
Yea,i have felt the anger of many of those.
Still i like the species just the same.

Thanks, John. He's a cool dude. When he eats I can see his teeth pretty well and i'm not looking forward to taking a bite that's for sure. The day I bought him I carried him around the shop for over and hour and a half with no bites. He's a bit more defensive now that he is settled in to his new tank, but I honestly think he's more curious than he is aggressive. Never strikes at all.

He seems very happy, and very placid in his enclosure, so great job on tending him. I know that they get very huge teeth, he looks very healthy. How long is he?

Thanks, Neal. He's probably pushing the 3ft mark. He's always been a pretty decent eater, and i've always had him on a weekly schedule. I never wanted to over feed to avoid regurg and it seems like it has worked okay so far. If nothing else, he's pretty to look at and fun to watch cruise around at night.

Once a week is great for ATBs. You shouldn't have an issue at all, unless you feed them oversized prey.

He's a beautiful little dude, by the way! Is he a sexed male? :P

    Re: My ATB
Yeah, you won't find me letting him near my face. I've honestly never seen an adult in person so it's hard to judge if his size is normal. He eats fine so I guess he'll get there eventually.

Biggest ATB I've seen is around 6feet long and as big around as a lemon... and colored like one too ;)

All of the ones we have at outback are nippy, too... wild caught amazons will tend to do that. And I believe they go for the heat signature of our exhalations, hence the tendency for them to strike at faces.

I personally have a pair of captive bred babies, almost yearlings, that are fairly tame. They are around the 24 inch range i think (hard to accurately measure a skinny, squirmy red noodle). I am hopeful that they will stay this "tame" once they get large enough to hurt.

    Nice yellow ATB waltah!
