    Tattoo = Bad JuJu?
OK so I have been kicking around the idea of getting a tattoo that is representative of my old lady.

Some people say this is bad JuJu. What do you think?

I don't see a problem with it for a couple of reasons; 1) I don't think we are gonna split if we were it would have already have happened 2) even if we do split ways it does not matter she will always be a par of my life or least my memories. Unless she runs around on me I do not see why I would regret it. I have known her for 9 years we have been together for 5.

I guess it is a cultural thing. It is a biker thing. I guess not every one understand. A bikers old lady understands ;)

I am not a biker, I do own a bike, per se but that is who I associate with.

Its is bad Juju. My cousin has a tattoo on his wrist saying his wife's name. And now, he is trying to save up money to file for divorce.

IMHO, its the worse idea. Just my opinion though.

I personally wouldn't do it but I've seen many done at the 2 shops I've worked at.

If you don't think you're going to regret it then go for it!

Or you could burn it off with some acid :)

If you have a strong relationship and want to then go ahead. It's your life and your body and in the end its a choice that affects you. No one else opinion matters because it is something you have to decide.

I have my wife's name tattooed on my arm in a heart and I don't regret it. I don't think that they were doing photo tattoos back then. But today with the me generation values I would say that there is a greater chance that a marriage will end in divorce than to succeed in the long run.

Maybe symbolism of something but like a portrait or name is a bad idea, the way I see it the only names you should ever get on your body are your parents or your children. (None of those yet for me but I do have a decent amount of ink. 1/2 Sleeve, 1/4 sleeve and another small piece in the last year.)

However, you said you've been kicking it around for a long time so if you think it's a surefire thing... then I guess go for it.

But on the other hand the fact that you had to ask instead of just posting us a picture of said finished work makes me wonder.

Either way keep us updated brotha.

I'd do it. I've had my dogs name on my fore arm for awhile now and we still love each other ,besides if you find a good artist they are super easy to cover up with something else.

    I say do it!

I would get my husbands name on me in a heart beat. We have only been together 6 years and I would do it no questions asked. I love him with all my heart, he is my best friend, and the father of my children. No matter what happens I will always love him for every reason I do today and wouldn't regret it. I would always think about all the great memories! After all, isn't the tat a representation of the good in the relationship?

This is true, and a heck of a lot cheaper than removal.

However, for this to work, it can't be really over the top...ie, not huge, really vivid colors (doable, but more creative solutions are needed).

I don't think I am the type that would do it, but I have a certain respect for the people that will literally wear their hearts on their sleeves.

I agree, just go with some standard black ink cursive. It looks good and says you love something enough to get it tatted and it can be changed, then you got nothin to worry about. My only other suggestion is if you don't already have tattoos make sure you look into your artist real good. Tattoo artists are like pet store owners, some are really bad and expensive I know from experience.

I was just about to mention wreaking balm!!!!

I am also getting the serial # of my bike tattooed on me, so that shows you how much I love my wife ;)

My wife still plays with rubber duckies and really likes them so I figured get a tat of a yellow rubber ducky, and if any one questions my man hood over it forget em!

Plus I am quite fond of yellow rubber duckies....

Eh.. I think that getting a symbol of her, would be kewl. I am not one for wordy tattoos; that is just me. I know that many, many people get others' names tattooed. I don't see a problem with it. My husband has a black cat in his sleeve that symbolizes me. :)

I would say go for it, I have an ex's name and likeness on my back (added fang to it though) but do not regret it at all. Every tat has been a stage in my life and there have been many ( both arms are full sleeves 1 on my back, chest, and leg). I started getting tats at 16 and love everyone of them. I'm 31 now and as long as I have bare skin I see no end in sight.

Me and her both have each others name, we've had such a big impact on our lives that even if we end up apart the tats would always mean something. Ten years and three children the ink is just iceing on the cake.

You should go for it... didn't you hear that some of the 'stimulus' money we're all subsidizing will be for tattoo removal?

    Re: Tattoo = Bad JuJu?
The same could be said for any tattoo, really.
I'm covered in ink and there's more where that came from. The decision to get any of my tattoos came from my own heart and mind because I know myself best.

I know most people are being skeptical because it's true that most marriages end in divorce; but you're not going to live the rest of your life in fear, right?

If you get it done, it can always be covered up should your marriage not work out. Hopefully, that won't be the case.

In conclusion, do what feels best for you and you only.

If you do get'r done, show us pics! =]

    Cheers

I never suggest creating a tattoo that you wouldn't want PERMANENTLY no matter WHAT happens.

But that's just me. You could always get it covered up like Pandora said.
Soo do what you like. I don't usually like tattoos of peoples faces though, often don't turn out very realistic or ..goood..

The only name you should get tattooed on yourself (IMO) is your own, or your kids....

I have a matching tattoo with my ex husband and thank GOD it doesnt have names in it... I still want to get it covered up by something badarse because the idea of us matching at all is enough to make me vomit.

dont do it!! You never know what the future holds, I would suggest something else that represents her such as her fav flowers or something that she is really into. Not only do you not know what the future holds it is hard to find a really good artist that can do a tat of a face that is super realistic and you may not be happy with the end result. Also I started getting tattooed at a young age and have had several things covered, they never look as great as a cover up as they do when you get it right the first time!
