    Please help urgent!!!
    hello everyone

ok so i rescued this corn snake and the back end of it is fat. the person i got it off was told its a fat patch but im not so sure. there's some dried blood around her vent and now her sides have actually split and her scales are literally starting to peel off revealing a raw skin underneath.

no im not peeling the scales off, they are coming off on their own accord. and i know its not a burn, iv seen burns before. this is not.

im trying antibiotic cream and keeping her clean and that but shes not feeding and hasnt now for 6 weeks. shes a 6 ft 8 year old female.

i have booked the vets for monday but just wanna know til then what i can expect.

please help i am really worried.

Posting pictures would help. From your description, it doesn't sound like anything I've seen before.

yes sounds liek a impact gut to me also. I say if not treated asap the snake may dye because it my rupture and become a blood infection and kill the snake fast and painfully.
I will bet that you will find shavings/ some other material caused the blockage if she makes it ot the vet.

aspen is very low risk for this. it would be something harder like bark or walnut shell.

and i do agree there is a very good change that its blood is already septic.

    hi guys

    so heres hte update.

the vet said she had a build up of some sort of fluid in her tail hence the 'fat patch' she then managed to contract septaseimia (spelling?). i now have her on a course of anti biotics and a solution to take care of the infection and clear up her scales.

the source of the fluid build up or reason of why it was there in the first place is unknown.

    thanks and lots of love

thats great news. septicemia is no joke glad that the vet felt it was still treatable and went forwards.

A 6 footer is still impressive. Once she's all healed up I'd love to see some pics!

And I wouldn't worry about the not eating just yet. Meds can kill their appetite and a few weeks off food never hurt a corn.
