frozen mice/rats

How long can they stay in the freezer for until they begin losing their nutrition? I only have a single BP that is eating large mice right now, f/t. The problem is a pack of 4 of them is costing me $11, and after looking at some prices online I was thinking about buying larger and more cost effective. My concern is them going bad or losing their ability to satisfy his requirements after a certain amount of weeks. He eats 1 every 5 days right now.

6 month minimum if they are vacuum sealed

nevermind..I went to rodentpro and micedirect and didn't realize shipping was so expensive...obviously those are for people with A LOT of snakes..anyone know of any place other than a pet store in PA or a good website to use?

I've had some last longer but if they start to have any "white" freezer burnt looking areas on them I never feed them.

I've wondered about this myself, good question.

Do not, repeat DO NOT, buy frozen rodents from Petsmart or Petco! I imagine that's what you're doing when you say 4 for $11. Those rodents are regularly freezer burned and can have a horrid smell when thawed (which no frozen rodents should). Even if you have to go to a specialty reptile store and get pre-killed rodents to freeze yourself, it's a TON better than going to Petsmart or Petco!

That said, try getting a mid-sized order from an online supplier. Yes, the shipping can be pricey but its worth it knowing you have quality food for your snake. Doing a good search and comparison of the different dealers, as well as contacting them and telling them your situation, can give you more options than you might realize. :)
Also, if you have a vacuum sealer of your own then frozen rodents can last up to a year. Just keep resealing them and they're good to go.

If you don't like to pay for shipping buy them at expos and reptile shows. I buy mine for cheap......I think this is right

Depending on how far west in Pennsylvania you are, Cleveland and Columbus have shows every month that rodentpro goes to... that's where I pick up mine, might be worth a drive twice a year for a 6 month supply
