Umm they are potty trained lol!
I put dust bath in my ASF cage and they enjoyed it at first but now they use it 100% of the time as a potty. In the last little while I've had to change the cage only once a week as they use the container:) How the heck am I going to be able to feed off such smart critters LOL. Actually the parents aren't going to get fed off but the babies are.

they typically do all pee in the same corner every time other than marking.

Ohhhhh I never thought of using a dust bath container as an ASF outhouse. Hmmmmmmm could make my tank cleaning chores even easier!

Remember though it's not really a "smart" thing they are doing (just so you don't feel bad about feeding them off). It's just instinct and colony dynamics at work. If a whole bunch of rats living in together were peeing all over the place, it would get nasty fast. By peeing in the same place it keeps the communities home cleaner, it shares their common scent mark and I'm sure has all sorts of other good reasons for it being done that way for the ASF's.

Ok that's just about as stupid as a hermit crab leash ,as hermit crabs cannot stand longer then 15 mins out of thier tanks!

I put a bowl in my ASF holding tub, and a bit of cheap cat litter (or pine pellets if no cheapo litter). They do use the heck out of it. Shoulda taken pictures of this last weekend, they filled up the bowl, and the cage was pretty clean. LOL

That's awesome LOL, You should totally make a little potty hut Jo!

I am used to them all going in one corner out of habit, but I think I decided to use a bowl for seeds one day, come back a couple days later and it was full of ASF pee and poo. :P By the end of the week, it was to the brim. (about an inch deep bowl) I think they even PUT the pellets into the bowl, because they were all expanded in there.

Seriously, we need pics people. Sounds entertaining at the least, and very useful at the best.
