I took the amphibian plunge too! DUW
I came across a few of these at the Dixie Reptile Show yesterday, and just couldn't help myself! They both seem a teensy bit stressed after their trip, since they are a bit darker now. I'm also not digging the coconut fiber on the floor of their enclosure because it makes them look so dirty. I think I'm going to find some nice moss to plant in there to see if I can fix that.
My kids have named them Frindle and Pixie, and without further ado here are a few pics.
Home from the show, and still all sleepy

So far one of my favorite shots

This was my second favorite. I spent quite a bit of time just watching them last night. They're too cool for school!

Here's a couple pics of them together....

It's going to take a while to get used to taking pictures of these guys, but I'm really looking forward to the challenge of capturing their colors in all their glory!

They're SO cute Christie! I didn't realize they have so much blue on them! Congrats!
Re: I took the amphibian plunge too! DUW
wow.. Christie.. their cute. Love the red eyed tree frogs. congrats!! look forward to all the pics.
Re: I took the amphibian plunge too! DUW
hold on tigerlily. i would reccomend keeping coco fiber as their bedding. ive had a frog for 2 years and used to use moss too but it is not good for frogs. when feeding them they can easily swallow the moss and get an impaction and die. coco fiber is easily digestible for frogs. i mean they may look dirtier but it is really what is best for the frog i think.
i am just talking about the long stringy decorative moss though.

Beautiful new additions, Christie!!

Thanks Melanie! Not all of them have such high blue, it varies with each individual and locality I believe. These guys were HOT, which is why I had to have them. :D

I wasn't thinking of taking out the coconut fiber so much, as lining it was a nice live moss. (but from what I've researched they don't like all mosses) Anyway, they will be staying on it for the foreseeable future. Thank you for the input. It does seem like it will be the best substrate, and the easiest to maintain humidity. Right now I'm going to try and use a feeding cup for feeding. I'm hoping that it will work well, as it will keep the crickets from digging into the dirt and dying (then stinking up the place).
I'm still learning about these guys, so ALL info is welcome! It's hard to know which information is good and which is not online. There is so much that I usually like to collect everything and see what info seems to be the same ballpark. I'm always willing to hear how others keep their animals. :D

Thank Nancy. I'm still waiting for them to wake up and check out the crickets I stuck in there tonight. Hopefully they'll eat a couple and I can relax a bit about killing them in the first week or something awful.

Thanks. I think that is becoming my favorite too. It's just such a great shot, and shows off the colors so well. Now that you mention it, it does look like he's stretching for a job. :giggle:
Re: I took the amphibian plunge too! DUW

Very nice, Christie! I love RETF's! And those two are gorgeous!
How do you keep convincing your hubby to let you have "just one more" critter??? :P

Yup, they really are amazing animals. They make great display animals. I'm already looking into maybe getting into a couple clown frogs too. :ohmygod:

Thank you Judy!
I'm not exactly sure how I keeping getting more critters. Maybe since they aren't snakes, is the only reason he is getting soft? In any case, you won't hear me complaining. :w00t:
Re: I took the amphibian plunge too! DUW
Love your froggies:)
They are so cute!
How could your husband refuse a cute lil froggie:D
Congrats, I love my froggies.
I think the world would be a happier place if everyone had some froggies:gj:
Re: I took the amphibian plunge too! DUW
Thanks Raul.
I asked my kids if I should call my husband to ask if we could get them and my son told me no. I was confused and asked if he thought we shouldn't get them, and then realized he meant that we should just get them without asking. lol. That's my boy! :giggle:
I agree. The world would be a happier place with more froggies. I'm already considering a group of Clown Tree frogs, but am trying to make myself behave. (that's so overrated though!)
