Feces
This may sound a bit odd but maybe not. These are my first snakes and now I have had dogs, cats and many other animals, I am not sure what a normal feces/urate looks like. Are there pictures on here of normal and maybe even abnormal feces looks like? Or maybe even a list of good things to look for and then a list of bad things. I just want to make sure I know what to look for if things start going bad. I appreciate any replies and apologize for my wierd question.

Re: Feces
Well, normal feces looks like any other type of feces..
Brown blobs. Similar to your own, actually...
The Urates are the real kicker.
They can be green, white and yellow on the outside, but are mainly white when broken apart, and when expelled, there are also a few yellow strings that can come with it..
This is all normal.
I have to say I have never had the inclination to take photos of defecation, but I can see what I can do tonight to show you.

Re: Feces
I didn't know what the hell those white chunks in her tank where when I first got her but that's actually the pee. As for poops... they are huge proportionally to what you'd think would come out. They are just like any other crap you'd see besides that...

Re: Feces
Okay Malposa you get the new official title of "Snake Waste Product Engineer (and Official Photographer)"

Re: Feces
OK thank you all for the pictures and comments. I have found the urates (white with the yellow bit) but not any true feces. How long can they go without going? My big healthy boy is going normally. But little girl who was underweight and not fed properly has not gone since I got her the end of Feb., but has had urates.
And Dr. Del that must be a big snake!

Mine was off feed from about a month from jan-feb and hadn't pooped since January at some point...not sure but I keep records now so I'll know exactly how long it was next time. There was a nice big log today so I'd say she went almost 2 months between poops. They go when they need to go, unless she looks impacted then don't worry about it.

Nah she was only about 1200g at the time - she just held it in so she could surf the tidal wave. :P

I have a couple big gals that every time they go, it makes me wonder if my husband crawled up in there and plopped one in the tub. LOL

Re: Feces
lol i love the picture. and mine seems to awkwardly lay one down in weird locations as well. one was in a vine. didnt find it for a week but it smelt so i know it was there some where. and another was stuck to the roof of my cocanut hide. dont ask me how. but i realized when he stopped using that hide and i lifted it.

Re: Feces
I seen mention in another post that you can tell when they are gonna go, do they get a bulge or something?
-
Re: Feces
You can just tell after you've known your animal for awhile that its about time for them to go.
-
Re: Feces
And they all seem to go at different times...So you get greeted almost everyday with the smell of snake dookie...:O
-
Re: Feces
BPs can be very efficient and make use of almost everything, so it is not unusual for them to go a long time without pooping. I've read that this is especially true when they are young and growing a lot, or when they have been fasting or underfed. And obviously in the middle of a fast there is no need for them to poop.
-
Re: Feces
Thank you everyone for the comments. This helps out a lot! and I am kind of dreading the adult poops... I thought my male BP's were nasty big but I guess I have no idea...lol.
