Re: Blue tongue skinks (bts)
Did you search for care sheets? I suggest you do that first, then ask questions. :)

Check out this site:

They have a great care sheet, breeders on the forum, and a good forum for questions. :)
I can't think of many reptiles of any type that 'should' be kept together. Most like the solitary life, except when mating, and it's best to give them their own space. Plus, the many issues of health are a major factor.
BTS are the greatest lizards! Just be aware that they need a LOT of floor space in their enclosure, which equals a large footprint for the cage. They need UVB light and a well varied diet, as well as regular attention. :)

Re: Blue tongue skinks (bts)
I don't own a bts, but i've been kind of wanting one, and have done some research, and from what I've found they should NEVER be kept together, unless breeding. Even then the will sometimes bite each other.

Re: Blue tongue skinks (bts)
Reptiles magazine has a great article on them this month.
That magazine is gonna get me in trouble one day.
OOOOh look another reptile I want:rolleye2:

My brother has a bts and has been a longer time herpoholic than me. He says most reptiles should not be kept together, unless its for mating.

Lol...I gave my brother most of Reptiles' issues but I had to keep the BTS one because I really want one of those. Good thing I have no more space for the moment...

Re: Blue tongue skinks (bts)
Its actually not a proven fact that they need UVB. The article that Raul mentioned talks about that issue.
We have a BTS that has NEVER been under UVB or UVA and she eats, poops, sheds just like any other BTS, and is perfectly fine.
we also have another BTS that has not been under UVB in 5 years and its perfectly healthy.

I haven't had uvb for mine in over a year. I know there has been debates about this. I notice no change in behavior, and he still eats, poops and sheds the same as before. He spends most of his day under the bedding anyway and is out and about at night for the most part.

Re: Blue tongue skinks (bts)
I would use a UVB, I use a UVB on any animal I own that in the wild recieves alot of sunlight. I have white tree frogs too which is debated about too with uvb, but I use it and my frogs exude awesome behavior. I don't know if this is because of it, but I don't see how they wouldn't benefit from it.
I was actually coming on here to do the same thing and ask questions, but this bts.net site is awesome. Did you see the new reptiles mag? They got one of them on the cover, and they have a nice care article about them. Check it out.
