Car + light pole NOT good
We were hanging new drapes in the bedroom the other night when we heard and felt a huge crash and the power went out. I went running down stairs and into the front and there was a ford sitting there in the middle of my yard. I started pounding on the windows and no one responded, I ripped the front window out and found a woman inside as andrea and justin called 911. She was unconscious for awhile but came around after a few minutes. They had to close our street for almost 2 hours to get her out of the car and the electrical lines out of the street. I think she's going to be ok, she was fairly with it after a half hour or so. She went off the road, went into the neighbors culvert, flew over their driveway (airborne) went threw several pine trees that separate our yards, hit a huge ornamental rock in our front yard and then took out the light pole. All of that to avoid an animal in the road.

We had to fire up the generator for the building and had electric crews here until around 3 am replacing the pole and running new power to the house. Andrea and ethan went to her parents once the could get out of the driveway. Ethan thought it was great having 3 ambulances and 2 fire trucks parked in the driveway with lights and sirens blasting.

geez.. she's lucky she's alive. I love animals, but sorry I'll hit the animal if there is no way to safely stop.

Wow, crazy story. I am glad that she is going to be ok. Moral of the story, next time you see an animal in the road, don't swerve.

Glad she's okay and glad that pole and rock stopped her if her car would have continued onward and possibly hit your home. Wonder how fast she was going to get that much going on.

It was less than 10 degrees outside but no ice or snow. She just swerved and lost control. She really is lucky to be alive.

I dont think anything was wet. Her car sides arent wet, her tires arent wet (you can see the fluids/wetness flowing down the treads in the last pic), there isnt any snow on the ground. She must have really been cruising.

Wow shes very lucky, did you happen to smell any booze? Kinda sounds like a drunk driver she looks like she was flying to do that much damage.

Holy poops! Neil, you know how to live exciting life!
I agree, she must have been flying to do that much from running off the road, I'm very glad she didn't hurt anyone else. And glad of course that she was hurt badly either.
Yay for excitement for Ethan though, I bet he's still telling everyone.

Happens way too much. Last week we had a roll over where a child was injured.....driver and passenger were both drunk. It's hard not to be mad when your holding them down because they could have spinal cord injuries and they are fighting and cussing you esp when a child in involved.

I think.. when an animal is in the path, and it's you and the car or the animal.. you have to choose your life.
    Hold on, pray, and apologize.

That's some crash. I'm glad she's looking to be ok.

last summer I experienced a similiar situation.some frinds and I were in mcdonalds when my friend saw a tire fly past the window, so we looked out side and saw half a car on the sidewalk. The guy was doing 120km/hr in a 60 zone when he went through a red. A lady was making a left and he clipped her, his car then flew out of control and split in half on the lights post. The back half of the car, trunk back seat and all flew strait up into the air and landed a mangled mess just before the intersection. In the video you can see it in the road top right. The front of the car traveled a half block down the road and ended up on the curb, still in tact execept for the driver side tire, that you cant see in the video. The stereo was even still working. The music you hear in the fourth video is coming from the wreck. I rushed out with my camera and saw the driver crawl out of the passenger door and make his way to the grass. The tire that flew past finally stopped at an intersection 5 blocks away. I videoed the wreck and the news bought it. You can sort of make out the ladys car that was clipped back at the intersection in one of the videos the one with the police car to the right.

I had to use this advice once, while on my motorcycle. Stupid deer!
I hit her and spun her off the road. I was told by my Insurance agent that it is better to hit them than avoid them.

I'm 20 and being that young some will feel it's not my place to say that I really get irritated with irresponsible drivers. I've had my days of doing stupid stuff, 2 speeding tickets and one drag racing ticket later I learned my lesson when insurance dropped me. I now drive a very reasonable speed, believe in being considerate to other drives and try to be as safe as possible. There is no excuse to be moving at 120 km in a 60, that's double and I've never believed in that. I do a moderate and slightly old lady style of driving of 5 to 8 over. Isn't that around 70mph in a 30mph zone when you do the math?

Original poster, tell me the person who hit your tree was not wearing their seat belt and I will probably need pictures of her in the car during the wreck. Maybe this will be a life changing experience for her, I'm glad she is okay but so many people learn the lesson she is blessed with walking away from only milliseconds before their life is taken from them.
